I do have to say one thing:

Quote:
Ashcroft said after the ruling that his Justice Department will ''spare no effort to preserve the rights of all our citizens to pledge allegiance to the American flag''--a misrepresentation so blatant that it functions as a lie.

(emphasis mine)
Americans really need to connect the dots here and realize that lying and distortion is the M.O. of this administration. They lie so often it is like the air they breathe. They even start to believe their own lies themselves (witness that Ari Fleischer video I posted a link to earlier, where he was laughed out of the White House press room for some incredible straight-faced absurdity.)

I'm sorry, what Fleischer video? As you can see I'm a new user... so could you please repost the link?

That's the link. I can't run it, myself, but I've read the report. It should be amusing if you can make it work.

I did not mean to side-track the thread. From here on out, please discuss Roger Ebert.

Thank you.

Three thumbs up! What a great article. He's a gawdamned American hero. What an inspiration to finally get to read someone making sense on the issue. Whew! I was pretty demoralized by all the misleading spin I have been encountering. This cleanses the palate.

What is surprising is not so much that Ebert would have intelligence or a broad knowledge base from which he can provide insightful discussion-----but that a movie critic is the lone voice in the wilderness leading on the issue, versus someone that does journalism or specializes in relevant subject matter. Amazing.

How come a film critic has a better understanding of the constitution than our president, our attorney general, and all of our senators?

Exactamundo. Heeeeeeeey, I think we have a fantastic movie storyline here........Mr. Ebert Goes To Washington.....?
