Default Evil priests

I recently saw Buffy where the evil priest was introduced. He is evil. I thought what other evil shamans have there been.
I can think of the guy in The Temple Of Doom, the one in Silver Bullet. Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter who I think the Buffy Priest might have been loosely based on especially all the stuff about dirty women and sex.
Any others?

Do these have to be fictional priests or can they be real. There's always Reverend Byrd from my home town. He was having an affair with the church secretary, and shot her husband three times in the head, and then beat his wife with a brandy bottle, dropped her over a bridge, carried her back up the to the road, put her in her car, drove the car over the bridge, jogged home and claimed he didn't know anything about it.

They made a TV movie out of it, so he is both real and fictional.

Cardinal Bernard Law.

There was this french-arab movie about Rai music that featured an imam who demanded kickbacks from local businesses or he would denounce them in his mosque. He also said that music was evil. The movie ended with an angry mob of Rai fans chasing him, and him fleeing in a pork truck.

By any chance did a bunch of his buddies get together and hire a hack writer to do a book claiming that he was an innocent man and everything was the fault of the Eeeevil, slutty, abortion-having church secretary? It was called _Caged Bird_ if I recall and was about the worst true crime book ever written, which given the genre is saying something...

Yes, Caged Bird is a book about the same story. Here.

This story was obviously the talk of my small kansas town for quite a while. Between the murders, the trials, the mini-series. Many of my class mates appear in the film. My middle school girlfriend was the baby sitter staying with the kids while the dad was killing the mom out on a secluded bridge. (I don't say allegedly because he has been convicted of the murder)

All through highschool that bridge was a party location for all the kids in my school. We had keggers where a lutheran minister beat his wife to death. I still take visitors to my town out for the tour.

The director of the Miniseries, Mike Robe , is an accomplished TV director and a friend of mine. He and I went to film school at KU (more than a decade a part) and I have been to his office in L.A. and we talk on email from time to time.

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that the preacher is guilty if you ask most people in my town. This guy is extremely competitive. Best anecdote I can share is that he was playing in a church league softball game (Lutheran's against Church of Christ) and he slid, cleats first, into second injuring the other team's second baseman. It wasn't dirty play, but it was extremely aggressive for recreational softball. The second baseman had to be restrained and led back to the dugout. (This was after the murders but before the trial) the second baseman came out of the dugout and yelled "high price to pay for a piece of ass isn't it Bird."

Christians. . . they just don't make polite company.

Here's a whole book of true crime stories about murderin' clergy!

For I Have Sinned

I don't remember much about it, but there was also some movie called The Priest or something, with, uh, some guy in it. I think he was bad.

(BTW, Night of the Hunter is one of the first movies I got on DVD. Love that movie.)

Oh, and any three-musketeers film or book. Cardinal Richeliu is the ultimate evil priest.

It's kind of a stretch, but Kai Winn is pretty thoroughly evil by the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The last nine episode, basically.
