the logic as how could God create light on the first day

To follow up on what echidna posted, this is a classic creationist argument used in any number of situations. It goes like this:
1) God exists 2) Arbitrary event / situation / theory 3) Wierd logic / misinformation / leap of faith 4) Therefore God exists Usually, they start talking at #2, but #1 is always implied in whatever they say, so there is no way for them to get anywhere except for #4. That being the case, explaining to them that #3 does not lead to #4 is generally an excercise in futility. Creationists are desperate to find some sort of proof to back up what they believe and are willing to go through any kind of mental gymnastics necessary to do so. Applying reason and logic to their arguments doesn't work because they're not based on anything of the sort. If you want success, make up some wierd argument with nothing to support it and invent some "logic" to prove that that argument leads to the irrefutable conclusion that God doesn't exist. They seem to like those arguments and may buy it. |
