He looked positively deranged as he described the sure execution awaiting anybody such as the murderers in the James Byrd case.
You might also notice that most of his verbal gaffes are of the "Is our children learning?" variety...........when he speaks about war or capital punishment he is usually quite lucid.

Erm,

let's not stretch it:

he appears lucid when he speaks about war, but he is not lucid.

"Evidence from intelligence sources, secret communications and statements by people now in custody reaveal that Saddam Hussein aids and protects terrorists, including members of al-Qaeda."

is a Bush quote from the State of the Union speech Jan. 28, which is re-printed by The San Diego Union Tribune, Friday July 4, 2003.

In the same article, this Bush quote is measured against:

"But the (C.I.A.) officials said, there was never any compelling evidence that Hussein gave support or weapons to al-Qaeda..."

I see from an increasing number of such examples, that the media is timidly holding Bush more and more responsible for his imbecility in war, economy and faith.

Hopefully, it will become headlines, for all U.S. to see, by 2004.

Too bad conflicts cant be resolved in a boxing ring...
Wouldnt it be great if leaders would fight it out amongst themselfs in 12 rounds of painfull boxing?
Or in pie eating contests...
What a wonderfull world it would be!

In my sophomore year of HS we had this really cool teacher. Pretty often he would just say "Aw, screw it" and we'd go out on the front lawn of the school make fun of people like Swaggert and Falwell.
Well, one day, out of the blue, he said "Alright. Four Corners debate time" (Four Corner debates being people would argue a Strongly For, somewhat for, somewhat against, Strongly Against, and could move to new positions if they were convinced and then spout rhetoric from a new corner).
"Topic: In a boxing match, what past or present world/political figure/leaders would win?"

The list me and my friends composed:
Young Fidel Castro would definitely get to the championship ring-He was a junior boxing champion in Cuba (Not an easy thing to do)
T. Roosevelt. Big guy. I mean, he got shot in the shoulder and finished five more minutes of his invective-laden speech. Tough guy.
Ghengis Khan and Kublai Khan. Man. These were two mean SOBs.

I forget the rest of the list.

Wow...I apologize for that hijacking.

Dictionary.com lists the definitions for lucid as:

Quote:
Easily understood; intelligible.
Mentally sound; sane or rational.
Translucent or transparent.
I mean to say that he is clear, and doesn't stumble over his words, he gets his message across. That doesn't mean to say that the message is totally f'd up and wrong, just that he sounds interested in what's he's saying, as opposed to "food on your family" comments where he seems bored.

Oh, Lord. Clinton back from the dead. Not looking forward to that. This is not to say that I disagree, but really, the Dems ought not to have to even bring Bill up in order to point the finger at Bush. Bush's crimes are manifest all by themselves. They need to grow some serious balls, like Dean is at least trying to. Stop pussyfooting and call a spade a spade already.

I agree. It just makes it easier for people like the Hannity and O'Reilly types to dismiss it all as partisan politics. "They just hate our President", I can hear Hannity's usual whine given with that crushed look on his face as if it's physical pain each time anyone blames Bush for his own failures. Why give them the justification they crave that allows them to avoid the real issue by bringing Clinton into it.

I was using a bit of satire with that comment.

I completely agree though with the judging of Bush's actions by themselves, without bringing back comparisons (Unless of course pointing out the similarities between father and son).

i don't know of anyone else in the world who is wearing a bigger target than gwb. do you?
i suppose he should have pleaded tearfully for the remnants of saddam's regime to please not hurt our soldiers anymore. yeah, that would have worked.
