Mal,
"snip insults" There were no insults that could not be aimed at us all. I therefore wouldn't call them insults. Do you really think you've had a new idea recently? Just be happy with the 5% accidents. 6% would be better. |

------------- If nothing else, I now know how to respond to all those people who are always asking me "Have you no shame?" ------------- Just respond, you're a subjectivist and they'll understand. "Brewster, is that word in our reader's digest dictionary?" |

You post a couple of relatively good topics that got a few reasoned responses and a lot of frivolous ones. You generally ignore or misrepresent the reasoned responses and reply in kind to the frivolous ones. After which you complain about the lack of reasoned discourse and depart the thread temporarily. A couple of good posts are made in your absence, but when you return, all you can do is repeat the tu quoque behavior that preceded your departure. It's nearly impossible to conclude that you're anything but a troll. If I hadn't read some of your posts in BC&A, I would already be convinced of it. If you're really interested in continuing this discussion, which, I'll happily admit, has caused me to think (always a good thing!), I would suggest that you attempt to respond more rationally to the substantive points that have been made. The continuation of the flame war will serve no purpose other than to get the thread locked. Regards, Bill Snedden |

spin for PB's benefit:
------------------------------ You have no shame. That would require some self-awareness. ------------------------------ Bill Snedden: ------------------------------ If it weren't so sad, it would almost be amusing. ------------------------------ I got a laugh. PB gave a good response and I got another good laugh. When a bunch of the creepies which brought down the previous discussion and did a good job here came over to other serious discussions with their nitpicking vacuousness, I could see no reason to attempt to be serious any more with them. There is no chance, when the shields are welded up. There is hasn't been much flaming. I put a serious post up which was not understood, which dealt with much or the moral argumentation that people have been putting forward here. Do you doubt that 95% of your thinking has been programmed into you? What has "moral subjectivism" got to do with reality? --------------------------------------------- 99%: --------------------- Sooooo, spin, what would be the moral defence against eating meat again? --------------------- What would you like to know? |

Sorry for butting in on this thread, but I couldn't help smiling seeing all the usual squirming and moral side-stepping from meat-eaters when confronted with this question. Chris |

AntiChris,
No reason at all if you believe that humans have the right to inflict unnecessary distress and suffering on other species. I do believe this. Sorry for butting in on this thread, but I couldn't help smiling seeing all the usual squirming and moral side-stepping from meat-eaters when confronted with this question. I haven't squirmed or side-stepped an inch over the course of this thread. Would you care to present your case for the immorality of meat eating? I'd be more than happy to address it. Oh, and I haven't seen you before. Welcome aboard. |
