hmm, after looking at this definition of arrogance from www.m-w.com

Main Entry: ar·ro·gance
Pronunciation: 'ar-&-g&n(t)s
Function: noun
Date: 14th century
: a feeling or an impression of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or presumptuous claims

Im not sure Gemma was being overbearing, but I think there's certainly a case for her being presumptuous.

Or a girlfriend. Whatever does it for you.

You mean you people really cannot distinguish between sex and love?

Why do I need a boyfriend, when I possess a love so deep and full and rich? My Beloved is Infinite, Eternal, and Unchanging. How many girls can say that?

Because the love you possess is not with a real person. Even if Jesus really is the son of God then the love you feel for him is not the same as love for another human being. One does not exclude the other. Don't you think Jesus wants you to be happy and experience the joys of loving and being loved by another person? And we weren't talking about sex, we were talking about love.

Christ only wants what is best for any of of us, which is ultimately God's will and desire that we be saved. I have been called to consecrate my life to Him through the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience -- I have been called to be the Spouse of Christ. (I am waiting to enter the religious communuty.)

There is no human relationship that could bring me more happiness than this.

Are you sure it's Christ who's calling you? If you're wrong you could be throwing your whole life away.

There is nothing real--and therefore nothing enduring--about love with a "person" because of their 'personhood.' Such love can therefore not be conceived to exist without pain . . . wherefore it is called 'falling in love' from where each one of us must rise to find the true love Gemma has found ("our earts are restless until they rest in thee)."

This does not mean that I encourage Gemma, but just that I recognize the love she has found and will never take that away from her. That just is not my job.

gemma, the only thing that tells you christ is real is your heart. children believe in their hearts that santa claus is real, but they always discover the truth, once they grow up. your christ is like santa claus: a pleasant fiction that makes you feel special and more happy, the same way santa makes children feel special and more happy.
