Of the INFIDEL membership, How many of us are (paid)
members (also)) of the ACLU = American Civil Liberties Union? Joining-up w/ them would be *one truly-effective way * to give the middle-finger to BUSH, ASSH >>> ASHCROFT and CO. Think about it. Go to "google" and ask for "ACLU". If some of you younger members don't know about the ACLU, it's time you did. They are there holding the line against everything Bush & his squad are doing to take away YOUR freedoms. I'd like responses here from you about this. |

i respect the aclu sort of. i think that they are inconsistent. they are officially neutral on gun control which is obviously a civil liberty. so i can not join in good concience. which is kind of funny because i do agree with them on most other issues.

I am; I just got my notice to renew. I think ALL infidels in the US should be members of the ACLU. The ACLU is a very controversial organization, even among its members. It promotes the rights of minorities, especially, religious minorities, more effectively than any other organization.
Nobody agrees with everything the ACLU does. In October, I met a high-ranking attorney with the ACLU. He jokingly said, "If you agree with 80% of what the ACLU does, you should join. If you agree with 50% of what the ACLU does, you should be on the ACLU board." Join the ACLU, but expect to occasionally be offended/disgusted/puzzled by one of their policies. THOUGHTfully Yours, Clark |

I absolutely respect the hell out of them, as an organization, for sticking to their guns on principles that lead them to very unpopular places. Born and raised in Indiana, I've mostly seen their involvement with Klan-related cases. This does not endear them to the population.
While I respect them, and am glad they're out there, I just can't in good conscience be a member or send my money in that direction. I'm man of principle enough to support the Klan's right to free speech. I just won't go so far as to actively help them in their pursuit. That probably makes me weak and inconsistent. I really don't care. |

I'm a card carrying member and considered interning with them, but that would hurt my chances of getting another job in the future.
I think they are generally a good organization, but, IMO, they seem to stick to the typical liberal line regardless of the issues invovled. |

Wildy and I are both members.

I tend to see ACLU as "hired bitchers". I.e. when you're upset with something, and you want to give someone trouble for it, just dial up the ACLU and they're on it, lickety split. I have to admit they did help me out when a religious ministry was allowed in my public high school, but other than that I see them as more of the PC kind of liberal. I get increasingly disoriented with all these PC cases. How can you protect freedom of speech and be politically correct at the same time? Actions speak louder than words. That goes for defamatory remarks, too. I don't support exceptions to freedom of speech whatsoever. Though, if someone chooses to say something stupid, they always get their just desserts.
