Default If they do the draft

Is college still a valid way to get out of being drafted?

That would depend entirely on the legislation passed authorizing a draft. IIRC during WWII college was not a valid reason for deferment and towards the end of the Vietnam war, they eliminated the college deferment option as well.

You have to be 18 to be eligible right?

If they try to draft you, just give the government two middle fingers and leave the country. That is what I'd do anyway.

I like the way you think. I actually don't turn 18 until September so I think I'm safe for now.

I'll be standing on the Canadian-American border with a shotgun in one hand and a hell of a lot of substance in my system.

People, don't stress out. Rangel is just filling the wingnut void that "Jihad Cindy" left in the House.

ON MILITARY SERVICE

He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days, he ingested nothing but Vienna sausages and Pepsi; and a week before his physical, he stopped using bathrooms altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with his own excrement, stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. "... but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the foxholes...I would have killed everybody." - Detroit Free Press Magazine , July 15, 1990
He couldn't face the real thing, all he is good for is killing penned up animals. If he is any example I would be ashamed to call myself a hunter.
