Default Favorite songs by genre

Okay, there have been numerous threads in this forum dealing with everyone's favorite songs. But here, I would like us to share our favorite songs by genre. Feel free to mention any genres that I forget here.

Classical - "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven

Jazz - Kenny G's rendition of "Have Yourself A Mery Little Christmas."

Rock - "Dig" by Mudvayne (that would actually be more 'metal' than 'rock,' but close enogh)

Rap - "Insane in the Membrane" by Cypress Hill (the only rap song I can eve barely tolerate)

80's - "Time Of My Life" by ???

Oldies - anything by The Beatles.

Techno/Electronica - "Block Rockin' Beats" by the Chemical Brothers

Romance - "If You Ask Me To" by Celine Dion

From the New World, Dvorak (at the moment anyway! Actually, come to think of it, this disclaimer applies to all my choices.) If you want to get picky, the first movement.

Jazz

"Summertime," Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong (I know it's sort of a cliche, but Armstrong's voice really breaks my heart)

Rock

Too many to choose from! I'll have to go with Soundgarden's "Burden in my Hand."

Rap

Again... too damn many to choose from. I'll try "Patti Dook" by De La Soul.

80's

"True Faith" - New Order

Oldies

"He's So Fine" - the Chiffons

Techno/Electronica

"Masters of the Universe" - Juno Reactor

Romance

"A New Song" by Pizzicato Five (or if you just mean the mushy, goopy kind of romance song, none I'll admit to listening to )

Jazz - "East To Wes", Emily Remler

Rock - "No Fair Fights", Prick

Rap - really hard to pick; by which I mean "Der Kommissar", Falco

80's - "Never Take Me Alive", Spear of Destiny

Oldies - "Back In The Saddle", Aerosmith

Techno/Electronica - "Subway", TTC

I can't really think of a classical "song" I would pick, and the very concept of "romantic" music sends the bad kind of shiver down my spine. And all of my choices will change within the next ten to fifteen minutes anyway.

Well, this will be easy...

Classical - Don't have one.

Jazz - Don't have one.

Rock - "Let There Be Rock", AC/DC. My long-time overall favourite song.

Rap - I hate all rap!

80's - "Shoot To Thrill", AC/DC(it's just '80s )

Oldies - What constitutes an oldie? Possibly "Paint It Black" by the Stones.

Techno/Electronica - See rap.

Romance - As above.

Blues - "Tightrope", Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Metal - "Blitzkrieg", Metallica.

I guess I'll have to give the token Country song vote: "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones.

Classical - The second movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13 "Pathetique" Quite possibly the most beautiful piece of music ever written.

Jazz - "Say It (Over and Over Again)" by John Coltrane. While 'Trane is known for his blistering, out-there lines, he could play the hell out of a ballad, as this track shows.

Rock - "Red Barchetta" by Rush. Science fiction, cars, and an odd time signature!

Rap - "Fight the Power" by Public Enemy. Great production, a brutal beat, and a message. Chuck D is brilliant.

80's - "I'll Be You" by the Replacements. A great song that feels like it will fall apart at any moment. Terrific, sloppy pop music.

Oldies - "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley. This is one of those songs you've heard so many times that you no longer notice how really innovative it was. The Comets were one helluva tight band.

Techno - Not really a big fan, but "What's Up" by DJ Miko sounds great in a club.

Romance - "I Could Fall In Love" by Selena. I remember very clearly the first time I played this on the radio. It underscored the tremendous potential that was lost when she was murdered.

Country - I know there's not a lot of country fans here, but "Belleau Wood" by Garth Brooks is just beautiful.

Reggae - "Is This Love?" by Bob Marley.

Oh, I forgot country. While I'm not a fan of country by any means, my 'favorite' would have to be a song titled "I Love the Way You Love Me," by an artist of whom I cannot recall the name. Beautiful song, though.
