Hello scumble,
As you say we are theoretically free from God, it seems that many people have no need of a God because he appears invisible. But as invisible as this God is he could still exist totally and fully. One of the reasons the concept of a loving all-powerful God is rejected is because there is so much evil and suffering in this world. We can look at humanity and there seems to be a continuous history of violence throughout our whole existence, because we apparently have freedom. For a God to eliminate the amount of suffering and conflict that exists in humanity today, he would probably have to change every one of our lives in some way. Some loss of freedom for all people would probably be the price to pay for peace on Earth with no suffering in this world. If there is a God, and if he where to create in the greatest way, would he create people to live in peace without suffering, or would he create us with freedom? Personally I feel that if God exists the greatest way we can be created is to have total freedom from God. But that comes at a price of suffering and conflict. The only way that this price seems worth paying is if God puts everything right in a life after death. Peace Eric |
