I hate to make a handy strawman or put words into people mouths...
But what would Ayn Rand say about the latest blackout in the Norhteast? Would Objectivists ( I really say that is a bad choice of name for such people ) say the people of NY deserve it? Its their own damn fault? And should they wait for private citizens to organize and fix the problem? Should they wait for individual charity and donation to fix the problem and/or buy electric power from someone else? Cry "Theft" and "Force" on expropriating stuff necessary for repair? For example would they cry fault if a generator from a local restaurant would be taken into a hospital by the fire brigade? What if they mobilize some people for labor on fixing the problem? What about authorities and society stepping in to take generators from a local Home Depot or Lowe's? What about the curfew that has been established? Discuss ![]() |

The same thought crossed my mind...then I flushed it because I'm not really all that interested in the answer an Objectivist might give.
