Ahh my fweelings are hurted. Looks like Reasonable's arguments are down in the toilet again. How many does this make?
Atheism is only a default position, for the weakminded. It establishes no thing! Put in another quarter and try again! Apeman |

WJ,
What's my point, that atheism is inconsequential? If so, why are you an atheist? Because he's not a theist! Next! |

More grounds to believe that Walrus hasn't the foggiest idea what A.J. Ayer said. In his book Language, Truth and Logic, Ayer wrote that 'god':

The argument boils down to this:
Even though the verification principle, which you explicitly do not understand, is too strong, no theist should be running around with such a weapon! How much further will you shove your foot down your esophagus tract until it comes out of the other end for entertainment purposes? ~WiGGiN~ [ May 08, 2002: Message edited by: Ender ]
|

How many f*cking times does a person have to explain two lines from a book that that tedious nincompoop WJ, who brought it up in the first place, has never even read. That post above this one is like the eleventeenth f*cking time.

"Because he's not a theist! Next!"
Try again! The semantics game won't save you from the quandary Reasonable got himself into. Reasonable is not a theist because he doesn't *believe* that God exists. Therefore, atheism is just another epistemic belief system which, is soley based on *others* belief in the Being known as God. And if that word belief is *not* true, then it is purely a default position which in turn can't prove that which you think you know, or believe based on what someone asserts. And further, if that too is also false, as AJ alludes, it's all nonsensical to even discuss. So, which is it oh great wise men, knowers of all? Girls and boys. Don't let your pants get all up in a twisted gooey ball! Face up to the truth, you can't use your logic to defend your own default postion 9or whatever it is you believe). You are as bad as the theist who uses impersonal deductive logic to prove/convince everyone that God exists! The best you can say or do is make an assertion that can't be objectively verified (unless of course God physically appears, but that already happened-Christianity). Otherwise, you have to have had a personal relationship with the the Lord God for deduction to even make sense. Think about this before you all try to argue your case. You all are not thinking about, say, the NT and the parable's that Jesus used with people like yourselves (just as an example here). BTW, why does this truth that other's (theists, Christians like myself, and other religious people) share seem to bother you so? You guys get all emotional over whatever it is you think you know or believe. Ayer seems to be the only true atheist here. Walrus |
