Ahhh, this post reminds me of why I became self-employed.
Actually, in my case the problem wasn't just the usual incompetence, mediocrity, and beaurocracy. I had to deal with an abusive manager as well, and the mediocre, incompetent, beaurocratic fools in HR didn't give a rat's ass. Regarding office supplies, when you're the only one who knows the way around the department storage closet (the good closet with the computer stuff in it, not the one full of pens and whiteboard markers the secretary buys), those supplies are very, very free. ![]() |

Given my current status regarding buying a house etc I can't just quit.
Then it�s too late. You�ve bought it. You�re a slave now. All you can do is try to choose your master. And most of the time you won�t be able be allowed to do even that. Was it Socrates who wrote that �civilization is impossible without slaves�? Ever seen the movie, �American Beauty�? The best I can do is not stoop to the level around me. I may not be perfect but I have some sense of dignity and ethics. �But this above all: to thine own self be true. Then thou cant�s be false to no man.� |
