Perhaps I should clarify when I say "Mind Battles". I used this term because the Christians discussing it called it that. Perhaps it would be better to call it Inner turmoil?

I know the brain is constantly chattering but most of the chatter (for myself that is) I find benign. I can however relate to what these Christian's are going through having been there myself and in that state it seemed to be a constant battle self imposed by what I believed. There didn't appear to be a way to resolve it, until I let Christianity go.
