Respectfully, I know you are not a lawyer. But the law is blatantly obvious on this point - whether you like it or not.
I was not speaking about the law so whether I am a lawyer or a plumber doesn't matter.

"It's wrong because the law says its illegal" doesn't wash for rather obvious reasons.

If that was the case then I'd be forced to admit that slavery really was moral at one time, the US Patriot Act is just A-OK, and the War of Drugs is a good operation.

The pretext behind the bulletins seems so obvious to me. If the intent was to simply build up business, then a 10% discount on Sunday (or any other day for that matter) would be relevant.

So the questions is why?

If the attempt is to build business, then why the church bulletin? It's obvious that a flat rate discount would include everyone, which therefore has a greater potential for bringing in more business than limiting the special to requiring a church bulletin.

My girlfriend and I had an interesting debate about this, where we agreed to dissagree.

Many businesses offer special discounts to groups. Police officers, teachers, students with good grades, etc. Those seem different somehow than this and I am unable to articulate exactly what I mean...any ideas?

People in churches tend to go out and eat in groups after Sunday services. Obviously this is an attempt to capture this business.

DC, I don't agree with your overall position (for reasons others have given), but that was still a brilliantly amusing suggestion.

We haven't heard back from Wasted Potential. Are you there, WP? As I've argued, I think you should take some legal action, although first contact the ACLU or American Atheists and see if they'll write the polite letter that needs to be written first to Taco Bell's General Counsel.

If you need a point of contact, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
