Default My jaw hurts

Actually, it's just the left joint of my jaw that hurts. I can't open my mouth very wide, which sucks, and chewing for extended periods also hurts. This first started a few years after I played the violin. I discovered this nifty trick, where opening my mouth wide would cause my jaw to pop. After too many pops, my jaw would start to hurt. Nowadays, it hurts worse when I pop my jaw, but it actually stops hurting after a day or two, as opposed to a constant fatigue ending in pain, if I don't pop my jaw.

What the hell is the matter with my jaw?

I'd say you're probably clenching up and tightening it when you play, which probably resulted in those muscles getting tighter and tighter and hurty. Just my non-medical stab in the dark. I'd suggest giving it a rest and trying to chew all food and things on the right side of your face, and avoiding gum.

But of course, the popping is weird... so I'm probably wrong, but try it anyway.

Damnit, Liv. I was hoping to live in beautiful oblivion for a little while longer. Two sleeping disorders, and now TMJ to boot? What next, cancer?

Don't answer that.

I tried that last night, which is why I'm asking about my jaw this morning.

I have had TMJ since they pulled my wisdom teeth. You can learn to live with it like I have, or get it taken care of...Note: Many insurance companies do NOT cover TMJ related treatments

I'd highly reccomend getting a splint to wear at night and for fuck sake STOP POPPING YOUR JAW! One day you might not be able to pop it back....and You'll be stuck and not able to open (or close or move) your jaw at all.

I dislocated the disk on the right side of my jaw...compleatly...jaw jammed in place was stuck open about 3mm. I had no movment at all. Took two years of intense physio and surgery to get back 1/3 of normal movement....I live my life everyday with that now...you DO NOT want this to happen.

best thing you can do is protect what you have. Don't chew gum, dont eat hard foods, dont open wide for long periods of time (Yes that means no more blow jobs ) Find your self a good spelialist and have it throughly checked out to see what else you can do to help.

Having your jaw fucked up is a bad bad thing

Oh and Sleeping disorders and TMJ seem to go hand in hand for somereason...Read that on TJM.org I think!

You know, my doctor wanted me to get some sort of split that pulled my jaw forward while I slept, to help keep my upper airways open. I have sever sleep apnea. And now a splint for my jaw for TMJ?

Bleeehhhhh
