Default ComputAr question

Those of you who know me might have just gasped...could it be? The almighty Psudonymph(formerly SirenSpeak) actually needs help with her computer?? Alas it is true...I am beaten.

But I don't feel bad, because all my computer buddies haven't been able to figure it out either...so I thought I'd challenge you smart people.

The problem is simple...my box will not animate GIF files. For example...when I see this icon: :notworthy:

It does not move like it would for most people...it appears to be a still image.

I have tried different browsers, running the IE repair tool, using different applications to open the GIF files, but nothing helps!

This problem started right after I installed XP on my box and for the life of me I have no idea what might have caused it.

So...put your heads together and help please!

I took a quick look through the microsoft support website. There wasn't much there. You may want to read this article.

I used to deal with microsoft problems all the time when I was doing some programming. I seem to have forgotten everything in the last two years. I couldn't even remember my MSDN login. The technology world is just passing me by.

You need a plugin/driver for that just reinstall "IE" or upgrade, that should solve the problem.

Are you perchance using a web filter? The one I use, The Proximitron, has an option to freeze .GIF files.

Nope..nothing like that. Good thing to look out for though...but like I said, I suspect the problem is with windows itself as any browser produces the same results...I think Imgod has it...to download the service pack. That KB artice appears to be spot on!

thanks again!
