You are protesting about my description of the USA ? The neo-cons ??

Wrong. ad hominem is an attack upon the person/organization making a statement.
Simply to describe a statement as nonsense and codswallop is merely a description of my feelings regarding the veracity of the argument/statement itself, not the person making it.

Blatant Ad Hominem. Definately, over the top.
This accusation coming from a person who has denounced an entire race seems to me to be lacking in self-reflection and recognition of irony.

But if it makes you happy I'll take back the "honky".

After all, what do I care ? I'm a KiSwahili-speaking, blue-eyed, blonde-haired bloke, so feel free to call me a honky.

Hopefully we will now be allowed to get back to a productive discussion of what to do about the USA now, rather than being sidetracked with moonshine and bilgewater.

And again you're wrong. I was attacking the argument and derailment, not the person making the argument.

Gurdur,

Considering your argument above related to ad hominem, I contend that my response to you should be reinstituted whilst leaving out the [offense] part. I can think of much more euphemistic ways to say [offensive] that will fly under the ad hominem radar screen. What do you think? You can handle it, can't you?

By the way, the thread was derailed a while back before I jumped in on this sub-thread. If no one responded to red, then the thread would not have been derailed, at least not for that reason. Per my recollection, Dr. Rick responded to red's comments and I was responding to Dr. Rick's comments, in kind.

Oh, and BTW, it's spelt "condescending", not "condascending".

Keep it cool and civil, everyone.

Discussions, requests, or complaints conderning moderation are not appropiate here; you may post them by pm to either the mods or admin, or you may post your concerns in the Bugs, Problems, Complaints, Suggestions & Questions forum.

Calling an argument "bilgewater" is not an ad hominem, but calling a poster names is.
