I gotta say I wouldn't like to live in Malaysia.
My mum grew up there and I visited there last year and it was a nice place generally with nice people (my great uncle and aunt live in Port Dickson). The problem is their islamic government. ![]() My friends couldn't go into a government building (for passport update or something) because they were female and they didn't have their face covered. ![]() Its stupid. |

Sad to hear about your friend's experience. I studied in Melbourne and have had my fair share of ugly incidents with huge racism undertones. What can I say?

Just ... which state did your friend went to, to get his passport renewed? There are some places like west coast areas where such stupidity exists ... but not in all government buildings.

It was in Seramban... My reply : Seramban? Hmmm ... what kind of stupid office did your friend stepped into? Wearing a veil is a choice (at least in Malaysia) for Muslim women and that is NOT a reason they should stop the government services from been conducted. Your friend should have complained at his/her embassy. I did definately have some positve experiences there too though! It was my ... Mum's cousin's wedding.... My reply : Malay Wedding? Chinese Wedding? Indian Wedding? Wedding in a Church? Has anyone (from Malaysia) been to a place called KKB or kalua kuka baru (I think thats what its called). I went to a river near there, it was one of the most beautiful places I've been.. (unfortunately they were building a dam near there) I haD a BEAN ICECREAM LOL. My reply : It's called Kuala Kubu Baru (translated should be New Riverside Fort) should be somewhere near Johor (next to Singapore). Malaysia have some of the best looking places in the world, but it also has some of the best money grabbers in the world as well. Whenever they see an area that has nature beauty to it (like swamps, lakes etc), they had to bring a bulldozer and ran it over. ![]() |

It was an Indian wedding... something which I had never attended before. (not that I've been to many weddings anyway)
I'm pretty sure two of my friends are actually Malay citizens. They go to school in England and have Bitish and native malaysian parents ![]() Anyhow, I'd love to go back there ![]() I know a bit of Bahasa Indoneasia, which I believe is similar to Malay.... Apa Kabar?? ![]() |

It was an Indian wedding... something which I had never attended before. (not that I've been to many weddings anyway) Indian wedding? Oh yeah ... remember those. They are always too long with so many rituals to perform. I guess it is OK compared to a Chinese one ... that last about 2 days if not mistaken. Shortest one should be Malay weddings ... you will not know when they start the marriage (nikah) and when they finish it either because everything will be held inside the house where the close family members attend. PS : Never did like attending weddings. I'm pretty sure two of my friends are actually Malay citizens. They go to school in England and have Bitish and native malaysian parents Hmmm.... maybe they were trying to apply in one of those embassy of one of those Arab nations ... those people are very strict with rules such as wearing an hijab. Malaysian government aren't very strict since they know that it is not Muslims alone who come for their services. Anyhow, I'd love to go back there Try East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak) next time if you are a nature lover. Last I checked, there were still some nature beauty left in East Malaysia. I know a bit of Bahasa Indoneasia, which I believe is similar to Malay.... Apa Kabar?? Oh ... OK ... Khabar baik (I'm fine .... in real world anyway). |
