Cool

Hi Albion

As an habitual type-it-in-Word-then-copy-n-paste-it person (gets your spelling checked!), I quickly got used to doing it manually. All you have to do is type:

[ url= the url ] name of link -- whatever you want to call it [ /url ]

but without the spaces in the square brackets.

Cheers, Oolon

Oolon, you don't understand the basic problem here. Things that are easy for normal people computer-wise are impossible for me. I have been known to crash computers to the point of their needing very expensive repairs just by sitting down at them, turning them on, and gently hitting the "enter" key. People never believe this until they see it happen (and then they take major steps to keep me away from their electronic gadgets, not that I ever try to go near them). Then follows the increasingly common refrain, "Well, goodness, it's never done THAT before." If I try to type a nmessage in a coloured font, I'll probably put the lights out all over the Bay Area (and cause the next major earthquake). I don't do anything on computers I don't have to; bitter experience has taught me that's the only way to stay anywhere close to sane. I can't read attached files or pdf files. I don't even have word-processing software, there would be no point. I do all my typing in real time. It's a bloody wonder that I can even do that. Heck, I can barely use the DVD player and I still need the instruction book before I can get it to actually work. I'm changing jobs because my previous job has started to require people to work on-line. I'm just a 19th-century person who was born 150 years too late. So I'll just struggle on and try not to implode the entire board next time I do something hideously complicated like signing in. TIme for a restorative cup of tea, I think...

Hmmm, Albion, OK...I guess I'll have to bring this up with the other moderators and see about getting you banned.

Have you considered looking for employment with the CIA? A person of your talents could be very useful.

Goodness, I don't know when I've felt so worthless! I'm not a US citizen, so I'm very sure the CIA won't want me. Quite apart from which, doesn't it help to be Christian to get into groups like that?

They don't much mind if you're not a US citizen if you'll work to sabotage the folks they don't like... and the CIA is as far as I know, NOT a hotbed of Christian fundamentalism. The FBI has a reputation for being pro-Catholic, but even that is dwindling now.

No, I wasn't suggesting you had to be a fundamentalist, I just thought it was pretty much understood that they only wanted good guys and that that implied being a practising Christian of some stripe or another. Or at least that's what some people have told me; they might have been exaggerating, though.
