Well ~ I favor some of these great pics, however, as for my personal opinion of the OP...
It is up to the theist to, yet again, defend the 'loving' and omnipotent deity of their choice that would be so cruel as to inflict such an abhorrence to begin with ~ just as they diminish or ignore the science that has provided the medical skill for a mere mortal human to succeed at providing the real and true compassionate relief. All the while, these disingenuous poseurs, would like to impose their dogmatic nonsense upon the freewill of others. ...and there are those that would marvel at my lack of respect for such a mindset or any that would defend it. |

Any picture of any surgery makes me feel anything from greatly uneasy to ready to cry/faint/vomit. I couldn't be a surgeon, and I have utter respect for those that study for years and then work stressful, insane hours to save people's physical and mental health.
Amie I have no idea what you were trying to acheive with your OP but the speculation sounds plausible. Posting pictures of the horrors of (say) open-heart surgery would not make me think that they should be stopped; why should this? I would say that you are being utterly disrespectful to those people who have really made a difference to our modern world and you should be ashamed of yourself. As for the bigger debate: there can't be many people who are "pro-abortion" because it is a hideous choice for a female to face, and nobody expects it to be a "nice, clean" operation. But then very few surgical or medical procedures are. So posting links to these images serves no purpose other than provoking reactionary replies (and possibly damages what little case you have). For me, the biggest problem the anti-abortion lobby has is one of credibility: they are usually meat-scoffing, pro-death-penalty, and pro-war. Some will even bomb abortion clinics and target staff with violence. Utterly hypocritical from head to toe, they just love the righteousness they feel in deciding who or what deserves to live or die. Until that changes, no number of "horrific" pictures are going to make a jot of difference. |
