True, but humans appear to be multi-brained entities... viz. split brain experiments, apparently our stomachs think for themselves, too. Arguably our conscious perception of god, conscience is the rest of our brain talking to us - back to some Julian Jaynes' ideas.

Whatever happened to our collective unconscious? How about collective solipsism as an oxymoron?

These are good examples of the way that consciousness, as it currently exists works. (Though I find a literal interpretation of Jaynes' concept of the "Bicameral Mind" somewhat controversial.) But these don't appear to be examples of an independent "center of consciousness" that arises specifically as a result of the aggregation of (already existing) conscious individuals.
