Default 28 days later

Anyone else see this? I was quite pleasantly surprised myself. It was indeed a good flick, with an overall sense of dread throughout pretty much the entire thing. Acting was decent and me and my fiance both agreed the lead male character was quite easy on the eyes! I was really surprised they took a zombie movie and turned it into something that really hasn't already been done.

AVAST!! THAR BE SPOILERS AHEAD....YAR MATIES!

**************************************************

Was anyone else a bit dissapointed by the very end? The whole movie was leading up to something disastrous it seemed...then it just kind of petered out into the typical happy ending. That was my only real complaint on it.

yup

---------*Spoilers...or something*-----------

i so expected them to get nailed by some infected people right after getting spotted by the plane. or maybe the second time they showed the "28 days later," have him wake up alone again. i dunno, i guess i'm not to disappointed just b/c i'm starting to feel like the tragic endings are becoming overdone.

I saw this movie yesterday and last night while trying to sleep, I kept picturing crazed red-eyed zombies coming in through my window.

Aargh! Over-worked imagination!

***spoilers ahead***

I thought this movie was very clever at parts. For instance, I totally did NOT expect the whole "I promised them women" thing. That was a very ingenious twist. I expected some danger within the military compound, but nothing of that nature, where the uninfected soldiers posed more danger to the women than the infected monsters outside.

Having said that, I think the rest of the movie suffered from 1. super-close camera angles. I like to actually SEE where the characters are before seeing all of their pores blown up to the size of tomatoes. and 2. the STUPID STUPID actions of the characters, especially the main character. Why did he have to light that candle?! And why did he go in that shed for BURGERS, when he knew well enough that any burgers they had would be rotten? stupid stupid...

It's definitely an interesting premise. When I saw the trailer,I was reminded of another movie, made by Romero, back in the 1970's.I'd seen it on some horror website a couple of years ago.

At the time I thought it was an interesting idea on which to base a movie. The movie's called The Crazies.

I really wouldn't call the infected, zombies,as such.At least it doesn't sound like it to me,since they haven't actually died. The idea of plague ridden homicidal lunatics,is one I like just as much, though.

I was somewhat disappointed with the film. Which is not to say I didn't like it.

Afterall it was quite deep for a zombie/sci fi movie. I just dont think it reached the emotional peak it was aiming for. However, most zombie films don't even go near the emotional aspects of seeing former human beings walking the earth.

I also didn't think it was particular scary, I guess after seeing the Eye a week ago, i was hoping for something more. Speaking of The Eye...if you don't want to sleep, check that flick out.

Other than that, 28 Days Later was heads and tails above the typical zombie genre. Unfortunately it didn't quite achieve what it set out to do.

I watched the film this evening. Ben Hur it isn't, nevertheless, it has it's moments. The music was very good, especially the quality of the young choir and soloists.

I couldn't help thinking, throughout the film, that it was a sort of "Day of the Triffids" for the 21st century. Another thought struck me as well: what would I do in the same situation? Scary huh?

The screenwriter Alex Garland has cited Day of the Triffids as the biggest influence on the script. So good call.

I just saw it, I found it rather tepid. Not scary. Beautiful footage and music at points, sometimes interesting story.

********SPOILERS********************************** *

The scariest part to me was the whole soldiers-going-after-the-women thing. Especially since Hannah looks to be maybe 15 at the most. The way normal human beings can lose their minds like that freaks me out more than anything.

I dunno, I don't think he was going in for burgers. It seemed to me that he was curious about the zombies, esp. since Selena had earlier said something about "seeing it [the infection] in their face". I think he went in, purposefully looking for a zombie, either to satisfy his curiosity or to clear the area to keep the others safe. (since it was daylight, i don't think the second is likely).

Yeah, maybe so, but I guess I would consider looking for zombies purposefully pretty stupid too.

I wonder if anyone found what the main character did in the end very disturbing -- killing a man, the weakest and most harmless soldier of them all, while he was running from danger, as well as killing another man by gouging out his eyes.
