My Zappa collection is pretty small, but I really enjoy Have I Offended Someone?, Zappa's version of a "Greatest Hits" album.
Even if you're not a rabid fan (like me), his autobiographical The Real Frank Zappa Book is incredibly entertaining. -Mike... |

All I have is his first album, Freak Out. My favourites are 'It Can't Happen Here' and 'Go Cry on Somebody Else's Shoulder'. The rest of the album took a while to grow on me but it eventually did.

I saw him three times and each time was a symphony of sound and sight. He usually had at least ten people on stage playing insane tonal temporal odious melodies and then wind it down to some of the most meritorious early rock ballads (Ruben and the jets). He loved old 50's tunes - stuff up the cracks, jelly roll gumdrop- rolls off my tongue.- Sharlena from the gypsy mutant vacuum cleaner album- all classics. 200 motels -ringo and the penis dimension song (and the movie). His love of blues and jazz led to a song with Stevie Vai- became a statement of attitude left to us by Frank- Fuck yourself- A fine session. After, you should listen to some Captain Beefheart and the magic band for some seriously twisted blues renditions. Try TROUTMASKREPLICA for a larf. It was produced by Frank. Blabber and smoke, pothead, mousetrapreplica;dacchau blues, veterans day poppy- different attitude. These men were and are special moments in white music.
