Agreed totally..

As a backslidden, heathen, 'not good enough to wield the Jesus Club' questioning scumbag..

I find atheists to be kinder, more tolerant, open minded, respectful, and generally more fun to hang with.

Fundies only incite anger, hatred, intolerance, etc. etc.

My question: How long before we witness Christian suicide bombers as we do with the Islam fundamentalists?

Why assume they know anything about "god"? Many of those people are exactly like the "gods" they worship: assholes.

And didn't your boy Jesus have a few choice words for hypocrites? Haven't you noticed that each person has his or her own conception of what this "god" is? Each conception is necessarily colored by that person's experience and (too often lack of) education.

I suppose you could go by Jesus' conception of "god," but Jesus was a young earth creationist, a demon-believer, and a condemner-of-persons-to-hell, so apparently he was pretty dim too. Not that you'd expect much else from a 1st century ignoramus.

There is no "god," Badfish. Ergo, on with the buttsex.

No wonder you guys have the attitude, I peek over here and just want to post "damn! your right" (well a lot of the time), sometimes I want to correct a misstatement (even though I may be wrong), but anyway I'm sorry.

I mean it makes you want to rebel against God, when you get the shaft, whats good for them is not good for me?
You have just discovered the essence of liberal Christianity. When we look at these people, and judge them by their fruit, we find that their teachings are wanting.

The key to liberal Christianity is to, rather than saying "(person) isn't a real Christian", to just say "yeah, sometimes Christians aren't as good as we'd like".

The problem is the arrogance and certainty. You can't ever learn if you're sure you're right, and people, all of them, have a lot to learn. So, we'd better not be *sure* we're right.

Dunno. Clinic bombing was bad enough for me.

I don't think I'll quite buy your generalization, though. There are fundamentalists who are good people, people God can reach *despite* all the conditioning and bogus theology.

A smile for everyone:

> Female Prayer
>
> Before I lay me down to sleep,
> I pray for a man who's not a creep.
> One who's handsome, smart and strong,
> One who loves to listen long,
> One who thinks before he speaks,
> When he says he'll call, he won't wait weeks.
> I pray that he's gainfully employed,
> When I spend his cash, he won't be annoyed.
> Pulls out my chair and opens my door,
> Massages my back and begs to do more.
> Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind,
> Knows what to answer to "How big is my behind ?"
> I pray that this man will love me to no end,
> And never attempts to hit on my friend.
> And as I kneel and pray by my bed,
> I look at the creep you sent me instead.
> Amen.

> Male Prayer

> I pray for a deaf-mute nymphomaniac with huge boobs, who owns a liquor

Just an observation I've made here and on CF.

I did not mean to generalize. There are good Islamic fundamentalists as well. I work with a few in my trade.
My point is that fundamentalism is the tool that leads to hate, hate leads to violence, violence leads to suicide bombers, abortion clinic bombings, and bombings of federal buildings.

I think we both would agree though that to generalize is a very bad thing.
