So, was I the only Infidel who tuned in to this?
I'm of a mixed mind about reality TV. Things like The Osbournes and Anna Nicole do nothing for me--I find them boring, dumb, and uninteresting. But I love Survivor, have since the first episode of the first series, and I get into the Amazing Race and even the Mole. Generally, FOX shlock reality turns me off (Temptation Island? ugh ... ). But there was something ... engrossing about this one. I mean, it's obivously once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing; FOX will never be able to pull this off again, because now the idea's been exposed. But watching it ... well, it was like a sadistic, guilty pleasure. I mean, not one of these 20 women last night came off as anything but money-grubbing, and most of them also came off as catty. [I want Heidi to lose. Badly.] And the guy seems a bit thick, if good-natured--at least he felt a little bad decieving them!--and he definitely looks too much like Robb from the last Survivor. But damn if I couldn't stop watching. The butler amused me, too, and it was absolutely hilarious how he obviously upstaged Alex, who looks like she was originally supposed to be hosting and narrating the show (guess she really regrets leaving trading Spaces now ... ). I really need to keep watching this, if only to see how fake the reaction of the girl who wins is when she finds out he's a construction worker and it's all been a lie. Or, will the (un)lucky woman have the guts to bitch him (and FOX) out on television for lying? Sigh ... reality TV is such a conundrum sometimes ... --W@L |

I caught part of the show. You're right, they did come off as gold diggers didn't they? I wonder at the amount of self respect of a woman that would compete for a man knowing only the amount in his bank account.
I'm really not all that interested in it, of course I'm not too much into reality tv, but I do like Fear Factor. |

You know, if they really wanted to make it interesting, they could have gotten an ugly or even just a plain looking guy, and seen what happens.

I plan on watching this one. It does appeal to me as well but I have not tried very hard to analyze why.
I get bored with reality shows pretty quickly. I've only watched the first Survivor series, the first Big Brother, and Temptation Island. Since it's been awhile maybe I'm ready for antoher one. Anyway, I also want Heidi to lose badly. And I like Melissa (I think that was her name). The one with the smile the fake millionaire likes so much. I also don't buy the story that this guy is just an innocent, sweet, shy person. That's not normally they kind that will go on tv and lie to a bunch of people. I'm pretty sure he got plenty of action despite his income. |

At the end of the episode I yelled out to my roommate "He's giving out Pearl Necklaces!". He bolted into the room and said dejectedly, "Oh, those kind..."
He's a weird guy anyway. |

I also watched most of the show...which is different for me since I can't stand "reality" television.
A couple of random thoughts: 1. This is exactly like "Who Want's to Marry a Multi-Millionaire" in one respect: The women who are competing for this man's affections are unaware that he is just a loser who isn't really a multi-millionaire...just like Rick Rockwell! ![]() 2. The gold-digging wench who "wins" will have merely fooled a guy who's trying to fool her into thinking he's found someone who loves him for the money he doesn't have. I predict their relationship will end shortly after he finds out that she was really after the money he didn't have after all. 3. No matter what happens, Evan will not go back to making 19 grand a year. He may not have 50 million, but you can bet your ass that he already has an agent and several more projects in the works. I met a couple of people from the first "Survivor" show, and these folks are not "normal" at all. Anyone who goes on these "reality" shows are just using them as a vehicle to break into Hollywood. |

I missed it?! Argh. Damn that extended version of LOTR.
Anyway, I plan on watching or taping each and every one of the episodes of Joe Millionaire from now on. This is a brilliant idea for a show, the best thing Fox has done in a while. Why? Cuz with The Bachelor, everyone knows that it's money and fame that the girls are after. And with Joe Millionaire, that's exactly what you get. People don't fall into serious relationships or fall in love on reality shows. And I can't wait to see the girl's reactions when he announces to her his real income. muahahahahahaha. ![]() |

well, I was wondering if I were the only one...
I was happy he chose mostly brunettes. I think that's a giveaway that he was really poor... ![]() I felt bad for the 8 who had to go home. At least a night in the manor would have been fun... I liked the 'he just inherited the money' aspect... And I thought one or two of the chicks were not total golddiggers... although I wonder about his character... ![]() Looking foward to nest week's... and the marriage one... (no, I do not watch reality shows, this is just too.... good... so unethical, it couldn't be a psych experiment...) |

I just heard something last night on Entertainment Tonight that made me think I might change my mind about some of the people. Apparently, they didn't tell Joe that he was going to pretend to have the $50M till the last minute, right before they prepared to go. And they didn't tell the women till they were already at the place (where is it, Scotland or something? Anyway, they didnt tell them till they got off the plane).

France.
The women knew he was rich, just not how he got it or how much. I'm wondering if FOX is going to give them the money (or part of it) at the end, if they stay together... That would be a cool double blind... |
