If you were a Psychic, you would have predicted my post before I wrote it and posted your response first right?

Psychic Phenomonon doesn't exist and everyone that has claimed to be psychic has been proven to be a fraud. John Edwards and the Pet Psychic lady are known hucksters who have been investigated by several organizations, from what I've heard and read, that have proved they are frauds.

Hi Albert
I agree with this, there is no substitute for the experience you had and I don't believe it is even possible to argue someone out of their own experience.

True, but fake memories are easy to plant. There is clear scientific evidence that people can remember things that never happened to them.

Thumbs down "There's More to Heaven & Hell, Heratio than your Philosophy Can Dream of"

Scottyman and Ashaman are dragging this thread into the rear eye of the camel. No no. I didn't get that right. I meant it's easier to dialogue with the eye of a needle than it is to get dragged through it by these two "mans."

So Scott and Ash, I feel I'm on a first syllable basis with you two, especially since your name's last syllable and the content of your posts are redundant.

You fail to distinguish between a psychic experience (what happened) and a psychic (someone who claims to know what will happen). I knew what was going to happen and it did happen. But I didn't claim to be a psychic then or now. Keep me out of your beef with psychics. I prefer your sausage of atheism. -- Albert the Traditional Catholic Albert's Rants

I agree. I think that one must add to the list the hucksters of the past such as all of the Biblical Prophets, Jesus, John of Patmos, Muhammad. And one must add the Godly hucksters of today such as Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn, Robert Tilton, and Peter Popov. I suggest reading the book "Flim-Flam" by James Randi who has exposed many frauds in the psychic area. Also take a look at Skeptic Magazine (with the American "K" in sceptic) with has exposed many such gabberloony.

Air do dheagh shlàinte!

PS: Greetings to fellow Scots, Alistair and Oxymoron. If Scottyman is a part of Scotland's diaspora that would give us 4 here. Not bad for a country of 5 million, less than about 30 world cities. Proudly Scotland has great numbers of converted churches to libraries, banks, tourist boards, apartments, museums, and offices of the Highland Council.

Excuse me, but you are the one that is dragging this into a s$%t slinging contest. I merely laughed at your claim to be psychic and pointed out the fact that all claims of this sort have proven to be fraudulent. If you have any proof that you are psychic, bring it on! I welcome others chances to test your abilities. If you are going to make such a claim, it's up to you to prove it. If you are going to use insults to bolster your position then you can wallow in it on your own. I have more important things to do.

Greetings Fiach,

I'm not Scottish as far as I know but I do have this fascination with Scottish history. I have felt very drawn to the history of the land and it's people for a very long time so maybe I am and don't know it. My family originated in Europe so I probably do have some Scottish blood in me. I do know that I'm a feisty fella but I probably wouldn't look very good in a skirt!

Sorry. I admit that I’m always near the threshold of my frustration powder keg room and the kegs have all got short fuse. I’ll be better, promise.

Please provide an example of one such disembodied concept.
The first such disembodied concept is illustrated by the animal cave painting of Lascaux, France. If you’ve read anything by Joseph Cambel, he indicates that the idea of animals having souls goes way back. He suggests, as cave paintings tend to substantiate, when cavemen took the lives of their prey they felt a need to give something back to them. Hence the first religious concept of sacrifice.

It seems to me self-evident that not all concepts are cobbled together by our brains. Some drop in on us like meteorites. Call it psychic, call such ideas grace, or infused knowledge, call it psychotic. Just don’t deny them. – Albert the Traditional Catholic

There is a substitute for experience, a good 'un too. It's called independent external validation, and it can serve either to back up a conclusion based on an experience or stomp it hard into an early grave.

Psychic phenomena, when subjected to independent external validation, end up six foot under. However people interpret what goes on for them, they are wrong until they can categorically demonstrate otherwise. (I will ignore the risible, 'psychic phenomena only happen when you're not looking' argument as it makes me laugh too much).

If your point is that individual experience is atomic and uncontestable, then it's pointless engaging in debate. The fact that people do - and that more to the point, Albert and your lovely self are here debating seems to suggest to the contrary. I believe therefore that your argument has (to quote Douglas Adams) disappeared in a puff of logic.
