Hey, When I was an admin for an online gaming thingy the problem person that came around was sleeping with the boss, so she got away with anything and everything. Er um, forget I mentioned it.

The only think I can figure is that he knows where the body is hidden, so they can't get rid of him. Or maybe he is Erwin's nephew or something. I post something that is questionable and get warned. He posts out and out slander and smiles. *chuckles*

I think the seeds of improvement are there, but I think it'll take time.

I was warned twice in the space of three days. One was for a post that I got a PM about and intended to change, but the thread had already been closed. I complained to the original mod, (Eldermike) it was passed on to two others (Coastie and Lanikala), and still sits unresolved -- lost somewhere in the shuffle.
If it's been more than a couple of days, it might be reasonable to send a polite notification.

The other warning was for starting the "one accord" thread. Gunnysgt posted twice in this thread, then closed it, trashed it, and warned me for starting it. He then sent me a notice to change my sig or be warned again. Meanwhile, I had been corresponding with E-Beth about the sig already.
That one, I would bring up with either TheBear (the GA mod) or Erwin. I think it was clear that the thread was light-hearted fun for all concerned.

LouisBooth and I don't get along, and I think everyone knows that, and as such, I think I have to recuse myself from any comments about him. Gunny, well, I think gunny's got some erroneous beliefs about the nature of Christianity, but I am fairly confident that he means well. If you want to shake your opinion of him to the core, find some of his posts in threads about depression; I've seen him offer beautiful, well-considered advice, and warn people away from excessive reliance on God, when God's given us all these ways to deal with mental illnesses.

I understand the new Rule 1 may help.

Seebs, I like you. But I finally found something I disagree with you on. I do not believe there can be justification for the double standard. Allowing mods to spread venom (even in non staff posting accounts) does more to harm the "young Christians" than anything a liberal might post.
I firmly agree that there is no justification for the double standard, and I do not believe that the senior staff approve in principle of such a standard.

However... I believe the correct thing for the folks on the fringe to do is adhere rigorously to those standards we would like to see others held to, and ask them to join us in following those standards, and make free use of the report button on those who do not adhere to such standards. I believe this is the best way to make progress, and may help the less-biased staff perceive and correct the bias problems.

I will be happy to deliver any message you like, and post it in the appropriate thread Pedro. Don't worry, I will report it exactly as you write it (just like I did last time).

Count me in, too, pedro. I'll be glad to post the Dobson's-family-chased-by-Satan-in-a-Porsche link/article/transcript on your behalf. I can't stand that hypocritical, smarmy prick lawyer4god or whatever he calls himself. He wallows in the same gutter as Louis Booth and the ACLJ clown.

Why were you banned?

Hrm. You haven't been having much fun lately, have you, Smilin? Sorry you feel that you're chasing the horizon when it comes to the whole God business. All I can tell you is that since age 13, I have felt the presence of the Divine in my life, and that it really doesn't resemble the hateful deity described in the Bible or worshipped by the CF bots.

How can you find it? ::shrugs:: Damned if I know. I wasn't even looking for it when, in pain, I tried to make fun of a Christian tract and it exploded into my life.

Maybe you just need to deride Christian apologetics. Worked for me. If not, maybe taking a break from looking will help....

Heh... I didn't realize you didn't know who I was... I posted my "picture" back on the first thread... Annabel recognized me right away.

I *REALLY* wish my husband would log out when he leaves the forums!

Here's the link to the thread about this.

I particularly like Outspoken's first post in the thread... here, I'll quote it:

" " <----very insightful and absolutely the behaviour you would look for in a moderator, huh?

So, Faithful Slave Pedro has been banned? For how long? What were the warnings about? Inquiring minds want to know...

I've heard this before. It's mentioned in this article, noting that Dobson got some award for ultra-conservative fat-cat in his efforts to further a Christian theocracy a al Taliban...............

Quote:
Dobson gets the Marian Pfister Anschutz Award
Anschutz has already established one charitable fund, the Anschutz Foundation, that helps bankroll a choice selection of ultraconservative holier-than-thou organizations. [...]

In 1988, he created the Marian Pfister Anschutz Award in honor of his mother. One of the first recipients was James Dobson, author, radio commentator and founder of Focus on the Family. Described by one reporter as a "professional Christian," Dobson is best known for his work on President Ronald Reagans Commission on Pornography. There, Dobson testified that his family was chased around town by a black Porsche with Satan behind the wheelpresumably to reward Dobson for working for Reagan.

Source for the above Dobson comment is from these gpo.gov documents:

The 1986 Attorney General's Commission on Pornography in the United States
From the 1986 Record Index Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov]

COMMISSION ON PORNOGRAPHY

Interviews
Pornography: James Dobson, 28329[3OC]

Remarks in House Report, 28327 [3OC]

Reports Findings (excerpt), 28327 [3OC]

Statements Pornography: James Dobson (sundry excerpts), 28328 [3OC]

Riiiiiiight. Chased by Satan in a porsche. I find myself suspicious that he knew it was Satan because he had dark skin, and we all *know* dark-skinned people can't afford Porsches. SHEESH! What a raving looney!

I love the way people invent elaborate excuses for a powerful supernatural being to interact with them in ways perfectly consistent with dozens of other explanations.
