Thumbs up Dean/Clark as the U.S. Democratic presidential ticket in 2004

Wouldn't this make one hell of a ticket? Unlike other potential tickets, this would be far from Bush lite, but at the same time it would be a viable ticket that could take the White House out of the hands of corporate America and put it back in the hands of the American people. What do you think?

Thumbs up

That would be a dream come true - guaranteed win for the Dem's.

I think, tho that it's gonna be Dean/Kucinich.
Not bad either, just not a "sure thing".

Let's see what Clark does in the next few days (months?) . . . .

Dean/Clark would be fantastic, but I think if there was either a female or a hispanic or black person on the ticket things would also get shaken up quite a lot.

This would never happen. Aside from guaranteeing the Green vote Kucinich would bring nothing to the ticket.

I think at this point adding a minority to the ticket would reduce it to novelty act. Unless it were a extremely high profile and well respected person I really see adding a person like Wesley Clark as a better choice. If they did find add person like this to the ticket they would risk overshadowing Dean.

Although it's really premature to talk about a running mate for Dean, Wesley Clark and Bob Graham would be on my "short list". A running mate should somehow bring something that the Presidential candidate lacks, either experience or geographical. Clark would bring foreign policy and military experience, both of which Dean is seen as weak in. He would also boost votes in the South. Graham would boost votes in Florida, which again could be the key state. Graham would also bring his senatorial experience. Both Graham and Clark would help win more moderate voters and for Dean I think the key is to win the middle without pissing off the left.

I think Kucinich would only be a running mate if a Lieberman were the Democratic candidate, to "throw a bone" to the left and prevent them from jumping Green. Kucinich would be a detriment to Dean as a running mate, as he'd lose the middle. Although Ohio is a key state, I can't see Kucinich's popularity that high among rural and suburban Ohio.

Of course, there are debates, primaries, caucuses, etc. before a running mate will even be considered.

THOUGHTfully Yours,
Clark

Honestly, Florida should not be allowed to vote in the electoral college this year.

I liked the thought of Dean/Graham with Clark as Sec of Defense.

I'd like to know more about Clark, but I haven't seen much from him except pretty vague statements on the issues.

Oh, and Dean mentioned that Clark would be someone he'd like to surround himself with as president in radio interview I heard the other week.

And they won't. But next year they will.

No?
I thought that the presidential nominee usually picked the "runner-up" to be the VP.
I dunno - for some reason (he did get 2nd place in the moveon poll) I thought Kucinich would be the next best choice after Dean.
Personally I can't think of anyone - Gephardt, Lieberman, Sharpton, etc. that stands out as much as Dean and/or Kucinich - and I think that this election is going to be a lot about how much the Democratic candidate is NOT like Bush.
If the Dem candidate is BushLite, then why bother?
Oh yeah - forgot about Kerry.

Maybe Dean/Kerry!
