My favorite posters are all those who don't start topics that amount to popularity contests.

Part of me agrees with your sentiment, part of me doesn't, part of me would like to discuss it further elsewhere so as not to derail this thread, and yet another part of me wonders why you would expend the energy to participate in a thread the premise of which you are fundamentally opposed to.

I promise I mean no offense, but by posting on this thread and thereby moving it up on the list are you not perpetuating something you disagree with? And really, is it the poster who you dislike or his or her choice of topic? Maybe these questions are too philosophical for such a frivolous thread. Or...? If the topic was brought up in another thread (which IMO is the only respectful solution) I would ask, "what's wrong with popularity contests?"

On topic: I honestly don't have a favorite poster. I have a favorite person who posts here (but don't ask 'cause it's a total secret), but I really try my best to judge each post by the quality of the content, not my opinion of the person who presented it. On that scale, there are many here that are favorite posters of mine.

And my favourite are those that don't post comments like this, needlessly dragging threads off-topic.

It could be that i decided to start this because too much discussion of philosophy has tired me out and i'm genuinely interested in which posters are enjoyed by others here: perhaps i've missed some of them, or perhaps i like to see the sense of community that is evident here when people get to talking about how much they gain from others. On the other hand, it could be that i take the most uncharitable interpretation of other's intentions and post off-topic comments just to satisfy my sense of superiority.

I can only presume that the reason nobody has picked me so far must be because I appeal to a high brow segment of the iidb readership that is above paying the slightest bit of attention to fluff threads such as this one. This also goes for anybody else who doesn't get picked.
