If you believed in God and were really angry at him and you wanted to strike out at him in some way. What better way than to deny his existence?
Kind of like ignoring Him.
I think that this is what many if not most atheists do. It is clear from the posts I see here.

Would you agree that Humanism is probably the most direct route to your version of Heaven?
I do not want to say that any particular *ism is the most direct route to Heaven because different people have different conceptions of humanism, theism, etc. The combination of humility and love provides the most direct route to heaven.

If deep down you didn't believe in God but really, really wanted to, and were trying to convince yourself, what better way than to assert his existence?

Kind of like self-hypnosis.

I think that this is what many if not most Christians do. It is clear from the posts I see here.

To me, as to most if not all atheists, god is nonexistent. So there.

What we express here we direct at the beliefs of people posting here, not at a nonexistent god.

Why is that so hard for you to understand? Do you deny the existence of atheists that don't believe in god? It's like you're really angry at atheists and want to strike out at us in some way. What better way than to deny our existence?

The word for this is intellectual dishonesty.
Since when was reconciling naturalism and theism a matter of intellectual dishonesty?

ManM:

Would you at least be willing to say that your Heaven will probably be populated by a great number of Secular Humanists - so long as they actually live what they believe?

Straight answer:
"Yes." Absolutely "Yes."

I could elaborate, but that's another thread.

Is our anger at god or at folks to claim to read our minds?

Call it what you want, You don't think I really believe that sarcastic response do you?

The whole idea of blind faith as a prerequisite is absurd, sorry if you misunderstood my point.

Intellectual Masturbation, shees...

Want to know what intellectual masturbation is? It's trying to find a reasonable answer to such an absurd question.

Sorry for the interruption, but I would like to ask a quick question on this general theme. It requires a hypothetical situation, so I am doubtful whether I can get a straight answer, but here it is.

Assume I held an envelope, and inside was the indisputable answer to the following question:

"Is there a loving perfect God with whom I can exist eternally in Heaven?"

What would you want to be answer inside the envelope to be -
"Yes" or "No".

Hopefully we can avoid trying to define loving, Heaven, perfect, what would I do in Heaven, etc.

So to paraphrase what you are saying: If your aunt had balls she would be your uncle. (However she doesn't have balls so she is still my aunt, oh well.)

Or are you saying we live in Burger King: We get to have it our way?

Or are you saying, it doesn't matter because either way we get to live in your own little world?

Hmmmm, sounds like you are a little reality challenged.
