I should have added that specifically the Saudi's leaders, if any leaders of the ME, should be trembling in their boots but they aren't because Bush & Co are covering up for them.

I don't see anything unfathomable about that.
HH.

Sorry if I read more into your post then was intended thought you were implying that USA has a "justifable right" to attack other countries and meddle in their affairs. Maybe DOD stands for the Department of Destruction.

From today's Guardian:
Quote:
"... the United States will find the killers and they will learn the meaning of American justice," Mr Bush said. "Any time anybody attacks our homeland, or our fellow citizens, we will be on the hunt. We will bring them to justice. Just ask the Taliban."
Yeah, swell. Except...

I have this nagging memory that the only reason "we" attacked the Taliban in the first place was to stop Al-Qaeda from carrying out this exact kind of terrorist attack; not because the Taliban were involved with the September 11 attacks, but because they provided shelter to Osama Bin Laden. Or am I misremembering things again? Have "we" always been at war with Eastasia?

Was it just me, or did GWB actually sound giddy when he was saying that it might have been Al Qaeda who pulled this off?

People died, and he was hard pressed to wipe the smile off of his face.

I thought he was giddy and ready for ordering some retribution too. That's also a sign you have gone off the deep end - when you look forward to punishing your antagonist...

Didn't Bush already pledge to bring Al-Qaeda to justice, like about two years ago? Is he going to bring them to double-ultimate-super-justice now?

I surmize that it is the same reason the book that Dubbya was reading along with the school girl in the Sarasota classroom on 9/11 was upside down.

That, of course, is an urban legend, aided by a bit of Photoshopping.

Oh, the reason they knew it was Al-Qaeda is that we had received warnings that they were about to launch an attack. Agents wanted to beef up security before the attacks.

Saudis didn't respond to requests for tighter security: U.S. ambassador
