Even when you will try to explain it to others they will just point at you and say: "Bah it is only your own subjective experience", of course you will claim it to be objective truth, but they won't know that until they have tasted it, and when they have, they don't need your words to tell them what it Is.

You will recoqnise the words and say; "Yup that sounds about right".

DD, what does that have to do with the relevance of GOT? All you are saying is the best way to learn about yourself is to start with yourself. Not GOT, or anything else that is external to you. I am all for self-examination. What I am not for is self-delusion. You delude yourself when you look into the mirror of GOT and do not recognize that you are only looking at yourself. And if you wish to examine yourself you do not need GOT. It is nothing.

When you know you know, and I don't know all.

All you are saying is the best way to learn about yourself is to start with yourself.

Have a better place?

Not GOT, or anything else that is external to you. I am all for self-examination. What I am not for is self-delusion.

Did I say that I had to have the GOT?

You delude yourself when you look into the mirror of GOT and do not recognize that you are only looking at yourself.

Thats the point of self-examination isn't it?

And if you wish to examine yourself you do not need GOT. It is nothing.

I didn't say I needed it for self-examination. But it is nice to know, that someone else also has been where you have been, not that I know as such , where I Am

Those who won't accept the donut, if they can't do the push-ups, are allowed to do the push-ups. But most just want the donut, without the work. Jesus is long dead, so the immediacy of the example with steve is not so visible in regards to Jesus

The more people that start doing the push-ups the faster all can have a donut, if all did their own push-ups. steve would only need to do 10, namely his own.

But there is no time-frame afai understand it.

Sorry for bringing up an old post but, as the text states and you agree with, might I add, no one else was aloud to do push-ups but Steve. Steve and Steve alone had to bear this burden, even when others wanted to step in for the task. So it doesn't matter wether or not I do my push-up or anyone else does pushups now, your Jesus already did it for me so I might as well eat my damned donut.

This is of course assuming Jesus did it for everyone else, maybe he just did it for himself?

So maybe we should do the push-ups ourselves....better safe than sorry?

I love this story! It describes Christianity and everything that's wrong with it so well!
My first reaction to it was, like most peoples, to just walk out of the room and deny the sadistic prof his glee. Then I thought to myself, "Hell, Steve's just as much a bonehead for going along with this crappy scheme," so after I left I'd tell everyone I passed in the hall to go to room 13 for a laugh. Finally, I realized that the donuts are really the crux of the matter, so I'd head on down to the cafeteria, pick up a couple dozen, and bring them back to the hallway, calling out "Hey guys! Free donuts! No stupid strings attached, no pointless hoops to jump through! Dig in!"

Yes, except in the case with God, there is not "outside" the room

The more you remove yourself from the teacher, the larger the room becomes Could be?

So you are confirming that the story was a stupid analogy even by lackadaisical theist standards. Thanks!

No, the more you remove yourself from the teacher the closer you get to your next class.

LOL, well according to how I perceive, the story is incomplete, but not entirely stupid. For those who believe that this is how and why Jesus did it, it makes perfect sense.

No, the more you remove yourself from the teacher the closer you get to your next class.

And who is in the next room? Your teacher

And you wonder why you are unable to keep rational folks in the flock.

Default Steve is a wussy boy!

Man steve (jebus) is a wuss... if he can only do 350 some pushups before he's done (dead), that's not the kind of guy I want to rely on the get me donuts (salvation).

There was a guy in my pre-calc class in High School who was failing, and he suggested to the teacher that he do a bunch of push-ups to pass the course. the teacher agreed as long as he did at least 1000! the class was 1h and 30m long. he took a break halfway through the class with 750 regular 90-degree-style pushups (there were 3 people counting for him), and then proceded to finish off the rest of the 250 with diamond-nose touch pushups. He finished 10 minutes early. THATS impressive. and that's also why he passed the class. :notworthy
