I would probably clean the floor. And I would do it with joy.
By the way, we don't have just common people passing along the wonderful words of Scripture to us. God did that himself through his Son Jesus Christ and through many prophets, teachers, and apostles via his Holy Spirit. Kevin |

Jesus didn't write a single word of the bible, so I'm curious as to how, when he was praying alone in Gethsamene while the apostles slept, the purported authors somehow knew what he had done during their nap. Did the Holy Spirit give them a flashback - psst! this is what you missed! Or did Jesus, while on the cross, say "Well, I've got some time to kill, and I know you're all just dying to hear what happened in the garden while you were sleeping it off"? As for who actually wrote the bible, that's a question better suited for the BC&A forum. |

He didn't write it, but what he said was written down by others under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Is that what they're calling psychedilics these days? So yes, they did have someone whispering in their ear - his name was the Holy Spirit of God. Go to any psychiatric ward, and you'll find someone whose got "the Holy Spirit of God" whispering in her or his ear. Sad, but true. It seems to me the big difference between the ancient world and modern day is that back then if you were nuts, you could get a gig as a prophet. Today, you hopefully get the hospital treatment you need to come back to the real world. That is until the state government kicks you out on the street in order to save a few bucks. |

What do you do?
How do you react? What do you say to this person? There is a point to this question. But I am curious about any responses. I would say - "Ask the Boss to come and tell me to do it face to face OR give me something black and white which I could use in a court IF the work I was TOLD to do is not part of what I assigned to do in the first place". |

Would guide them and comfort them. Why didn't Jesus write it? Wouldn't a gospel actually written by him be much more convincing than one written by some third party who fell asleep during Jesus's whinest hour? Also, please show the place in the bible where the Holy Spirit filled the apostles in on what happened during their little nap in the garden. Something like, "and the Holy Spirit told us what happened during this time" would be great. So yes, they did have someone whispering in their ear - his name was the Holy Spirit of God. Just curious - how could the apostles be sure that it was the Holy Spirit and not a demon? After all, even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. |
