I actually think this is true for most people regardless of any beliefs, I think it is quite normal to defend a loved one...
But, not at the cost of principle and integrity...especially when there may be a paradigm shift due to such a defensive adherence.

(not that this is happening here, of course )

Perhaps, that would make an interesting thread topic elsewhere...carry on.

Maybe I could be your pianist...although I'm not sure I could quite play that I can do some easy Chopin...

The song is over, Ronin leads Kally to her seat. They smile at each other knowing they have a clear conscience.

Helen, I'm a classical pianist too. I also took ballroom dancing. Maybe I'll try to learn that one so you can dance while I'm playing. It's beautiful..

It would be interesting to put this poll over at Christian forums. lol

Bold emphasis is mine.

So true..

Let's ask Vicar Philip his feelings on this subject.

Yes, it's a beautiful song. Kally, I didn't know you played piano! I really missed not having a piano when I left home. I was so happy when we were given one as a wedding present.

I can't dance so maybe you can teach me someday...

I agree.

Fwiw, I gave up posting there after a few posts. I didn't feel like I would ever fit in with that crowd.

I (or the original question) didn't ask about justification, but let's turn your response around:

The subsequent suffering of billions of people cannot justify the suffering of two people. Why then would you toss Till to the wolves?

BTW: I'm still waiting for someone to map out the flaws in my response.

The answer, quite obviously, would be that I would not.

I would defend both the 'two people' <the boy> and the 'billions of others' <the entire family> against the tyranny and injustice of the 'Klan' <Yahweh>.

There you are, then.

PS ~ since you and I aren't xians, though, we may just be bogarting up Sapient's thread with our thumbwrestling...LOL.
