I want to go soooo bad. But I'm soooo broke. Hell, I'm tempted to just put it on my credit card. Of course, my going would result in a BIG fight with dh. But this might be worth it.

I just noticed on the Endorers page of Godless Americansthat they added the following note.

"The individuals who have a lower-case "ii" next to their names are not all necessary "Jr's". They are members of Internet Infidels."

I'm definitely thinking about attending this.. especially after all of this pledge hoopla. Couple questions though:

1) Anyone planning on carpooling from NY?

2) Why isn't the Freedom from Religion Foundation endorsing this??? The church & state undercurrent to this march needs to be stressed now more then ever after this ruling.

I wasn't previously considering attending due to the difficulty I'm likely to face in getting time off work.

However, with all this Pledge nonsense, I'm going to make every effort to attend, even if it means just being there for the weekend.

I think a march on Washington is a great idea. I have been off the boards for awhile, so this is the first I have heard about it, and I would LOVE to go. The only problem with my going is that I am a college student in the middle of Iowa. Does anyone know about other people from Iowa that are coming? It would make it easier for me...

I'd like to come, but I'm only 14 (15 by the time of the March), so the only way I'll get a chance is if my school sponsors a trip. Harrum... I will still get the word out, though!

I would definitely like to attend this event.

As someone who has attended numerous demonstrations, large and small, in Washington DC and elsewhere, I can tell you that the most likely threat of violence would come from the DC police if we had a massive, unruly crowd.

You can bet that fundie counterdemonstrators will show up, but in my experience they are never violent, just extremely obnoxious.

It may seem overwhelming to announce our godlessness to the nation when we are such a minority, but remember: this worked for the gay community. Several decades ago (in the late 1950s, I believe) the first gay rights demonstration was held in front of the White House. A few dozen men and woman dressed in professional businesswear held signs saying that they were good citizens and did not deserve discrimination.

We will receive unimaginable amounts of flak for this event from the media, but it will be the beginning of something good. We have to start somewhere.

Let's hope that the reason the Godless Americans website is down is only technical.

I remembered I was supposed to add "ii" about 1/2 second after I hit the Submit button. So there are only 43 that are in question.
