So, you're saying that from where God's sitting, we all look about the same.
Murder, telling a white lie, genocide, stealing bubble gum, it all looks about the same from those lofty heights.
The wages of sin is death. All sins are forgivable with repentance.

Your question (and the question about the exclusivity of Jesus being the Way) are likely the two biggest stumbling blocks to Christianity. It is hard to argue with you because you can't see that the most egregious sin of all is rejecting God. Doing the whole, well I'm better than that guy, and he is better than that woman, and she is better than Osama Bin Laden is meaningless. We are all sinners.</strong>

Not only is it hard to argue with me, but gods actions are hard to justify. No one has ever gotten past the line "the most egregious sin of all is rejecting god" (or worded something like that), and to me, that is the most selfish train of thought. It would be like working as a CEO of a huge company, being chewed out by one peon employee and then having another employee shoot an employee while on duty, and claiming that the employee who yelled at me was more in the wrong. For goodness sakes, my ego isn't that big, but my heart is, as it would go out to they who lost their life. But, whatever floats your boat I guess???????? I mean, if you're the creator, than running a tyrannous earth is your perrogative I guess.

your efforts would we wasted and those tapes would promptly go into the garbage. Unless of course I was in the mood to have a good laugh and then I might watch a few minutes of the fallacious drivel and then throw in the garbage.

I think it's telling that in your amendment to my parable, even though it's within his power Daddy does not eventually forgive Sally and release her from the basement to give her another chance, but rather that Billy better watch out or he just might end up down there too.

It was your parable. I was just trying to quickly get it a little closer to something that makes sense to me. I could have added quite a bit more - like the Daddy's explicit promise of eternal happiness if they do good and love him, the fact that he is willing to forgive any of their transgressions, etc.

Well RJS, that begs the question – if he is willing to forgive ANY of their transgressions why create an eternal Hell?

Since the thread started on this topic, here is an update.

HYDERABAD, India (AP) -- The toll of people killed by a brutal heat wave in southern India continues to climb as reports trickle in from rural districts, the government said.

Temperatures that had soared to 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit) along the Bay of Bengal have fallen in the last few days in most of Andhra Pradesh state, but officials are still counting deaths among the elderly, ill and laborers who work outside.

On Thursday afternoon, the death toll stood at 450. By late Thursday, it had risen to 622, said D.C. Roshaiah, the state relief commissioner.

(edited to clarify that I don't mean those who will be damned, but rather those who have already been damned)
