Arghhh! My browser just crashed! I've written a response and gave several links of good brochures on the internet. Now it's all gone... Well, let me try from scratch:

Note - All files are in PDF format (for obvious reasons, if you know what a PDF is for). I suggest you download Adobe Acrobat Reader.
http://home.earthlink.net/~kansasath...ECproblems.pdf
http://www.lightandmatter.com/evolution/evolution.pdf
http://fp.bio.utk.edu/darwin/essays/7_court.pdf
http://www.jhuger.com/pamphlets/watchmaker.pdf
http://www.jhuger.com/pamphlets/kha.pdf (just for fun!)
http://fp.bio.utk.edu/skeptic/Info_s...onceptions.pdf
http://fp.bio.utk.edu/skeptic/Info_s..._evolution.pdf
http://www2.ncsu.edu/ncas/evolution/evolution.pdf (not a brochure but an interesting pdf book, worth a look)

Sigh, I know there a few more not in this list...

As for my project, I might need some help. The TO FAQ on the 5 Major Misconceptions is several pages long. I can't fit that in a three-fold, single page pamphlet. We need to shorten it a lot. Any takers?

Talking If its worth the trouble...

How does this sound: Refute young earth creationism with... the bible! I would suggest that in order for some to listen to your arguments about observations of nature, cast some ambiguity into the literal translation from which they derive a young Earth.
Old Hebrew is a very simple language compared to, for example, the latin based ones of today. There are about 5-40 different english words that one hebrew word can be translated into- as far as my understanding of the language goes...
I have read that the calculations based on lineages are only about 30% accurate, because the Hebrew word used to indicate ancestry is "ob", which literally can mean "father of", "grandfather of", "great great great great grandfather of" ect.
The thing is, the word literally means "Primary Ancestor of..." since it was common practice to only mention the "heroes" in some cases- leaving room for large gaps in the list.
Also, the hebrew word for day could be translated into: a 12 hr day, a 24 hr day, or... a very long time. It just depends on the context- give the yec's these peices of information before trying to say that the bible is flat out wrong and misleading on most accounts, though you may feel this way.
Perhaps the biggest biblical support you can propose before delving into genomes and such, is that the earth is God's natural revelation according to scripture. It is a duel revelation, and should be congruent with its sister half- the bible. "The 2 should add up, and if not... think which revelation is not subject to the misinterpretation and fallacy of human hands... He does not call us to be blind to his creation."
Also, Pual says to "test everything and hold on to what is good"
Test everything- both The Creation (through science) and the bible, which people (hopefully) can do themselves.

I got most of this stuff from Glen Morton's site, But I could go on and on with much more scripture on antifundimentalism than you would want to present, lest you sound too intimidateing.

Godspeed

Oh, and you're going to need to explain the evolution of two things: Eyes and Wings...
There's bound to be someone brigning those up!
Good luck!

Hey SP,

I'm not sure what you mean by shortening it... Do we need Isaak's permission to edit that? How hard is it to convert HTML to PDF?

One of my favorite bits to use on those who claim that evolution is false:

Evolution is taught as sound science at such conservative Christian colleges as Baylor Baptist, Southern Methodist U, Wheaton College, and Calvin College. I doubt the CCC folks even realize this.

Fundy Xtians really have a hard time explaining that. At best, they'll mumble something about 'federal funding' which is nonsense. There are other Christian schools that do get fed funding and teach creationism. They just aren't the major respected colleges.

Here is a web page of the Baylor biology graduate courses, which includes...

Course 4420, Natural History of the Vertebrates

Study of diversity, adaptations, ecology, behavior, and evolution of the vertebrates.

Obviously this schools are secretly being controlled by the Darwinist establishment. This gives credability to the lie that one can be a Christiand AND believe the evil, satanic lie of evilution and thus lead more people away from Christ. The darwinist establishment is, of course, in league with Satan himself.

The so called Christians at these schools are obviously atheists who are lying and teaching lies while dismissing the TRUTH of GOD'S HOLY WORD.

If we shorten it, we can't really use his exact words anymore, unless he grants us permission to do so. It won't be Isaak's TO article anymore, and we cannot use Isaak's, nor the TO archives', name in the pamphlet. The best we can do is to refer to the original article as our "inspiration."

Html to pdf is easy. With Adobe Acrobat Pro, we can do it with one button (actually, Adobe prints out the page as a pdf file). The TO Achives already has a pdf version of the article, but as you can see, it's not pamphlet material, and much too long.

Look at the first link I gave above. It's fairly short, and it's already in pamphlet form. We cannot cram the entire original TO article into a single three-fold, front-and-back page, unless we use a font size that's only viewable with a magnifying glass.

As for permissions, we need his go-ahead if we copied his work verbatim, in whole or in part. If we paraphrase his points, then we don't have to, but we must place a note at the end of the pamphlet acknowledging that we were influenced by his original article.

Now to make the pamphlet I will be using Microsoft© Publisher™ 2000. It's fairly easy to make a pamphlet provided that we already have a working draft of what we want to be printed. After that, it's just a matter of printing it with Adobe.

Hey SP,
Yeah, I like the 3 panel format for pamphlets, but I think you're right that not many of the T.O. FAQS will fit that format. I was wondering if we could go ahead and get permission to convert some of the more popular FAQs to PDF format (or if they already are, would someone point them out for me?) -- who do we contact? Anyways, I like to see this happen because HTML never prints out correctly for me. Plus, webpage printouts tend to be paper hogs. As for a pamphlet, maybe we can pull our collective Infidels talent together and put up a couple. The Book list could be a good beginning.

Go to the TalkOrigins.org website, click the Browse Archives link, then click the Must Read link. Some FAQs have next to the title. That links to the PDF version of the article. Here are some of their urls, there are PDFs for other articles: (Note: they don't look good to print)

I have all of these files on my PC, in case I need to refer to them without going online.

If you need to print the html file, then save the html, and edit it with a WYSIWYG editor, or a text editor if you know what you're doing. Or copy the content to a word processing program and do some editing to fix the margins, spacing, paragraphs, and to make it "printer friendly."

I got tons of PDF, DOC and TXT files in my PC from scouring the net and saving articles that I like (making sure to note the original article's url, so I can return to it. Also I copy the site's copyright notice, in case I may have to reproduce it or send it to another person.)
