Any teenagers perusing MD can just as easily peruse Freethought Humor and see all the kinky pics in their natural habitat. There is a difference between bawdy irreverance and pornography. That difference is a sense of humor. Not to mention actual explicit sex.

do not be so surprised as some christians may be tempted to fall for the stereotyping idea that atheists have no morality. Your screen name makes no equivoque as to your position.
One link from one post on an online BB cannot excuse bigotry, nomatter how offensive you deem the link to be.

I suggest that your post be edited to add a warning or be sent back to where it originated.
Ludicrous. There is nothing remotely pornographic about that link and this is not a child's forum.

Funny how the theists get all offended about one little link to the the humor forum yet don't have a problem with waving bloody pictures of aborted fetuses on the sidewalk in front of health clinics. Not to mention the emaciated, suffering Christ that hangs in so many churches. Now THAT is disgusting!

I'm pretty sure belief in extra-terrestrial life is an excommunicating offense.

I beg to differ.....

" This is not a child forum".... is there anything posted which percludes minors from partaking in this thread? if yes, please refer me to that regulation. For that matter, is there a minimum age requirement to participate in the IIDF? if yes... the thread in Miscellaneous Discussions entitled " Cassie's poll " inviting participants to vote on their age reveals 2 participants age 13 and 14 who posted directly in the thread announcing their ages.
So " this is not a child forum" seems to not quite fit the reality.

" there is nothing remotly pornographic about that link".... one picture describes Christ involved in sexual activity with I believe Mother theresa. The cartoon is sexualy explicit. It describes a sexual position to be specific. It is not appropriate in this thread. Not even related to the actual thread. It then belongs where it was taken from " Freethought Humor". If kinky pics are actualy posted in Freethought Humor, common decency would require that a pre warning is posted for those who do not wish to be exposed to "kinky" pics. And that certainly includes minors. the second is a cartoonish representation of the Pope with a giant penis. That fits the definition of sexualy explicit. Or do you consider that the display of sexual organs even if caricatural is not sexualy explicit?

I assume that your rejection of bigotry applies to any act of bigotry whether it is religious or non religious in origine. I expect to see you applying the same rules to all in future posts. I will be watching.

I do not believe in cohercing anyone to view something they would normaly choose to not view. Whether you like it or not, it was careless on your part to post that link in this thread the topic of which has nothig to do with your misplaced "sense of humor"( to use Livius'term).

If you wanted to get some attention, you certainly got it. But not the positive one a humanist would seek to recieve thru constructive comments.

IMO your method is a disgrace to the atheists who participate in this forum and intend to use decency as a platform for positive communication with theists. I would respond the same way to a theist who would use your method.

No matter what excuse or justification you wish to present, I maintain that your action shows poor judgement on your part.

At this point it is up to the Administration of this forum to evaluate whether or not such material is appropriate in this thread and if they need to protect young viewers as well as adults who do not wish to be exposed to that sort of material.

Thanks for the warning Kally! I have never gone in the Humor Thread as I have aknowledged that it could be offensive to theists. So let me tell you that I do not like the idea of being coherced in this thread today thru a careless act.

But what is at hand here as I posted it is whether or not anyone cares about the minors who may view such material. I would expect some degree of common decency. It would be interesting to find out what the parents of those young teens would think of this forum if they were to monitor what they are viewing and realize that there is no protection in place.

If movies are rated for their content so that parents can choose what thef feel is appropriate for their kids to view.... why should any forum or public access board not follow the same common decency?

kally would you appreciate being coherced in viewing something you would rather not view or be pre warned and given the right to not view it? The right to choose what we view is also part of individual freedom. It needs to be respected.

Look up at the top of the main page. Eewwwww icky, nasty, dirty sex.

I think blasphemy is hysterically funny! Why shouldn't it be. Remember GOD IS SANTA FOR ADULTS

BTW Sabine, if I see something I don't like, I know how to close the window. The little x in the upper right hand corner (hint hint)
