Wink

Thanks for the additional info, YTB.

Since I can only go on my lunch hour, I will probably be there closer to 12:00 (I have meetings up until then, so I can't leave earlier). My next task was to see what the cross-street was, and you answered that question for me.

Just got back from the office supply store, and bought their last 3 insulated, white poster boards, and a brand new pack of markers.

Fruit scented! Woo hoo!
Thank goodness I wrote out what I was going to put on the signs BEFORE I started sniffing markers.

Anyway, I'll dash out to the rally as soon as I can, with my smiling, patient, professional face on, and my kindest voice.
Maybe I'll also bring those cool "Kissing Hank's Butt" fliers for fun!

Amazon,
I am so upset that I won't be able to meet you and your fruit scented signs. LOL. Please have fun and be safe. I am trying to get someone to bring a camera and take pictures, just for shits and giggles, so maybe I will be able to see you after all.
Beth
Thank you, again.

Is there any place we can see the "offensive" cartoon?

Simian, not on line. I have a bad faxed copy, but that's it. I am hoping that this demonstration causes it to be published again. I will work on it and post back later if I can find it. It is pretty funny, though.

You can see some of Garret Gaston's other work here:

You can get the feeling of what kind of cartoons he writes from this sampling posted.

Hey YTB,

Your camera idea is a good one. As a matter of fact, I had a similar idea to bring a disposable camera and take pictures of any protesters who decided to get frothy at me. Can you imagine the horrible pictures of people damning me to hell, from the damnee's perspective? It might instigate them a little, but they should be reminded that "peace and love" cult members should remain peaceful and loving toward ALL others, even when we disagree.

I just noticed that you're from Glen Ellyn! I lived there for many years, and my parents still live there. If you haven't heard about it already, the local Free Inquiry Network meets at the Diamond Buffet on Roosevelt Road on the second Monday of every month at 7:00 for dinner and conversation. I make it to that dinner almost every month. If you are so inclined, I would love to see you there!

It's so refreshing to meet with like-minded people once in a while so we don't have to tip-toe around our non-belief. In our group are many long-time non-believers, and even a board member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation. It's a cozy little group with no dues, no obligations, and lots of challenging debate, even amongst ourselves. Bring any articles you would like people to read and discuss, or just stuff yourself on the better-than-average Chinese food.

To everyone who is being so supportive, I thank you sincerely. I promise to try my best to represent our cause with dignity, intelligence, and compassion.

My guess is the opposition didn't wait!

Talking

Clearly the fruit-scented markers are agents of the devil.

You are all too funny! Amazon, my daughter has Karate on Mondays, but I am sure I could get Hubby to take her at least once a month. I love Diamond Buffet, I will try to attend!

Why do these things always take place in the middle of the work day? There have been many such things I have wanted to attend, but it is difficult to do so when it requires taking a day off to do so!

I guess that is why it was set up that way by the protesters.

I think you "guess" correctly.

But I will not say that these folks actually sit around and talk about details like that, because I would again be accused of claiming that the Biblical America Movement is "insidious".
