Does anyone have any experience with removing scratches/buffing cd's (music)?
I know there are many products out there, but I was looking to get suggestions as to the best quality cd buffing/scratch removing kits. Any suggestions, let me know. Thanks RedEx |

I've only tried that CD doctor (identical to DVD doctor, Game doctor, etc.) that has the hand crank and emery wheel. It didn't work worth a damn. In fact, a CD that used to only skip on one song now doesn't even register as being in the player. NO CD ERROR!

Hopefully, there is someone out there with other experiences- better products. I have many cd's with scratches that I'm trying to repair. Most are pretty old, and got the scratches from dust and dirt particles. Word of advice to anyone starting and collecting music cds. DO NOT PUT your cd's in cd booklets. They suck. Keep'em in jewel cases and they will last a lot longer. RedEx |

I know there are places that you can take your cd's to to get the scratches buffed out, but it won't help with disks that have deep ridges in them.

Try other players, some might be more forgiving, and or replace the CD. These are options if you don't get the scratch fixed.

I use non abrasive dish washing soap, get some on a wet paper towel and wipe from the inside to the outside in straight lines, no spinning of the cd. I guess this fills in the scratches with soap, I dunno. I then rip the cd as fast as I can, burn a new copy of it, and put the original back into a jewel case.
