Hi GeoTheo,

I was hoping that a Christian would come to the defense of Vanderzyden. He is an excuse for a human being because individuals who come to an a-theist board trumpeting their faith are representatives of their faith. If they claim to know and hold high moral standards then honesty and integrity should be the yard stick that they must expect to be judged. If they are not absolutely sure of their arguments and positions and if they are not knowledgeable as to the facts and precedents that they argue and lack the honesty to admit it then they do not have courage to practice what they preach. If religion has any use in the world of man, it is as an example of how people should behave. Christians fail miserably at this, because down deep, for Christians, faith is an act of selfishness.

I am having a hard time understanding your point.
Christians have to know everything or else we are dishonest? I geuss if someone says they know everything and they really know that they, in fact do not, then they are dishonest. I think Faith just becomes very real and people confuse this with thinking what they believe is an obvious fact. I think Christians think they know a thing or two but haven't given it much thought or really had their beliefs challenged. So, If some of us think We believe in God based on some sort of proof and it turns out we were wrong it is really just faith, where does the dishonesty come in?
It sounds like we are simply mistaken or just fuzzy on a matter.
In order to prove dishonesty you would have to prove the Christian was really an atheist that was just trying to put a belief in God over on someone. I think there are some con artists like this, but I think they usually prey on Christians not atheists.

Good point. If the goal was to produce half-assed eyes, then success was achieved. For that matter, if another goal was for you to produce a half-assed answer to my post, then success was achieved again. Yay God!

Hear, hear. No dishonesty if you are simply mistaken about something. Keep in mind that there are a lot of christians who think that lying to us is a pious deed, so you might sometimes unfairly get some heat for it.

Benny Hinn is one piece of shit that comes to mind. I sometimes wonder about Pat Robertson also, remember his sudden support of partial birth abortions for China during his business there?

Could either of these ghouls be complete charlatans and conmen? IMO, yes.

GeoTheo,

You have answered your own question. Christians have been deceived into thinking faith=proof and faith = “truth”. From there it becomes an incredible chain letter of deceit. If Christians would just learn to keep it simple I don’t think we would be having this discussion.
