... the adult who greeted them appeared to be crying.

That is seriously creepy.

That's pretty fucked up, and I always hate this anti-christian government crap, especially in a country where the majority of people are christian, including the government. What's the government supposed to do? Kill almost everybody in the country?

Wow, that article is really scary. Just the fact that members of a group are willing to carry out such a 'simulation' speaks volumes about they way they think. The 'captors' seemed to be having a really good time playing their role, and that's spooky. That kind of behavior just screams "Jim Jones" and "David Koresh" to me.

The really sad part is that there are a lot of people in this country (probably at least tens of thousands) that will see this and say, "See! See! It's all true! It's all part of a conspiracy to prevent good Christian people from preparing for The Coming Persecution™!"

I thought of that too... Maybe, in a few months, stories of this lawsuit will circulate on the net, but they will be reduced to "Someone sued the church because they didn't like the demonstration of what persecution is like. Look! We're being persecuted!"

I have nothing but sympathy for this girl and her parents.

Yep, the fuckers are just projecting what they would like to do to us.

The ``one chance to deny Christ, or you will be killed.'' sounds an awful lot like the concept of the crusades save the alteration of one word.

That is just so nucking futs. People. *sigh*

But seriously . . . two million? Isn't that just a bit over the top? Not to belittle the poor girl's experience, but two million!

Oh well. They could ask for twice the amount, I still hope they win the case.

Any more, when I hear about lawsuits like this, I have to remind myself that the family might only get 1 million of that (assuming they are awarded the full amount). I don't know if you have to pay tax on money from lawsuits, but if you do, hack off another 500k. It seems that you have to ask for ridiculous amounts to have a decent chance of actually ending up with a reasonable amount when the dust settles.

In cases like this, I'd cheer for just about any award that is likely to put the offending organization out of business. If I were the one bringing the suit, and I ended up with a big pile of money, I'd be inclined to donate anything I considered 'excessive' to a charity (or any organization) that helps take down groups that do wacky things like this 'simulation.'

Keep in mind that kiddnapping, assault, and battery are criminal offences. The people involved should be facing the jail time if convicted.

The article made it sound like this was just a civil case; are they pressing criminal charges as well?
