The Catholics are much more accepting of the doubts and struggles that come with faith; evangelicals are too busy condemning you for being weak to consider what they could do to help you.

There are exceptions, but as CF has shown us, they're rare.
I agree Seebs.. totally. I have never or would ever follow an Evangelist. The best advice I've ever been given (in a religious forum has come from the friendly atheists, agnostics, Pagans,.. and yes.. Catholics.)

One of the reasons I started this 'bitchin to infinity' session was over all the Catholic Bashing and the treatment of the Pagans, Heathons, & Homosexuals.

(I hope if there is a Heaven, then we are granted our own seperate sides... NO EVANGELICALS ALLOWED...LOL)

Oh God I'm so confused.

Does anyone know who I am? I could be anyone.
I know who you are...

You are kind, polite, and thoughtful of others..
You don't lower yourself to the level of those who condemn others
You are a true friend, trustworthy and loyal.
You are an Aquarius (grin)
You don't like the word 'boobies'.. so I've resorted to 'udders'
(heheheheh)

You're right, Annabel, but...I think most people are fairly honest online.

Some people get their kicks out of presenting a false persona but I think that usually becomes evident fairly quickly. I think most of us want to be liked for who we are, not for some false image we can present.

It sounds like you had a neat Easter. I did too - I was happy to be part of the orchestra for our Good Friday and Easter services

But if CF ever gets it's act together, I will head back over there. I can’t understand why they are having so much trouble getting back up.

I do not have the time to post on more than one forum. Also, I am not a Christian that believes the message of God should be forced fed, so I am happier on a Christian forum.

I figure if an atheist shows up there, then at least at some level, they are asking for it!
:banghead: Some of this has just gotten ridiculous for me. Anyway. When I was with the "Atheist Network" in January. It went out of service ? January 15 - February 3? Two Weeks and 5 days. That was frustrating for the "Atheist Network" folks. I used to be a "Christian". I see things differently now. I'm like your Dan Barker, but never a Minister before. I was one time seeking it out in my earlier life.

Yes, you could be. It's consistency that will tell, and that comes with time. You are always Annabel Lee, as far as I can see. Your character shines through with every post you make.

I am always Lunachick. Everywhere I go on the net - unless the name is already taken, and then I'll try to be Petra - my real life name. I'm pretty much the same character through and through.

Both of us are as multi-faceted in our on-line communications as we are in real life - some days posting a little angrily, sometimes flirtatiously, sometimes introspectively. These are honest aspects of ourselves that we express through this medium, and through a consistent on-line 'handle'.

In real life, you could say the same thing. Meet someone at the pub, or at college, or at church - just because you've met them in real life doesn't mean you'll REALLY know who they are, either. Ask many a woman who married a charmer, to only find out she'd married a violent asshole instead. Ask anyone who had conducted some kind of business deal through a friend, only to find out that friend had ripped him off blind along the way. And many other such real life scenarios.

Who are we, indeed?

Indeed. I learned this lesson first from a guy I ran into on Usenet, who used an obvious pseudonym, and one day, I asked him what his real name was. He pointed out that, in fact, his pseudonym was more "real" than the name the government used.

I'd guess that a couple *million* more people recognize the name "seebs" than my government ID name. It's also easier to type.

Dammit, I lost the post I just wrote.

Condensed version:

Lunachick...I remember first running into you on CF in the Oral Sex thread. (amusingly enough, the name was changed to Alternative Intimacies) then clicking on a link to II and posting on same subject. That was fun. I got about 5 pms from CF people questioning me on what I wrote in II.
It amused me. Thank you!

Smilin...I love you too.

Helen...I agree, most people are fairly honest.
