Treacle, I was talking about socially, not politically. It seems that Britain's political trends mirror those of the US, but american social issues, like fashion, trails those of europe. Slavery, unionization, consumer protections, social security, all these things we imported from europe. The fact is that (west) europeans enjoy a better quality of life than americans, so its reasonable to expect that americans will eventually adopt europe's social status. its simply a matter of waiting.
