Er, how does killing 9 people count as "mass destruction?"

Let's see, clever Saddam could have mailed letters to everybody in Tel Aviv. I get it! No wonder we can't find the chem/bio warheads...

Ion, I've been doing some hectic development work and generally browsing through these fora in a state similar to catatonia in the last two or three weeks.

I don't want to detract from the quality of the threads by throwing too many unsubstantiated peanuts into the ring, especially since I got royally flamed for one offhand comment recently.

I'll be a bit more visible when I can dedicate more thought to my posts. I see you're in fine form

Nuclear weapons may require a more advanced delivery system than chemical or biological weapons, but that does not mean that chemical or biological weapons do not require an advanced delivery system.
so you're calling aerosols 'advanced delivery systems'?

Default One big aerosol

To reach the American or European continent from Iraq, you're going to need one big aerosol. Remeber we're talking weapons of mass destruction, not weapons of irritating tickles.

If an aerosol is your best delivery system, you're better of using old fashioned bombs.

The link to the article no longer works, (The story link does.) but the article concerned the widespread availability of the 1911 flu bug, which killed millions of people worldwide. It could happen again, bio weapons are so easy to make these days, all you need is a house and the proper lab equipment. And then the spray can full of the flu in a mall, airport, train station etc would be a real weapon of mass destruction, and not a joke.

1911 Flu bug?

Never heard of that one. Think you need to add 7 years.

And I may be wrong about this, but I believe the 1918 flu that killed millions came and went on its own mysteriously -------no one knows why. Last I heard scientists wish they had some traces of that bug so could come up with ways to treat/prevent it. ---------if it ever does return.

My dad works for the Baltimore County Health Dept, and five years ago he attended a seminar on biological terrorism. Apparently it is pretty easy to create a slow delivery system, small enough to fit in a lunchbox, that could be placed inconspicuously in public, & over a period of time continuously release a bio agent. Of course there are a lot of factors involved, but ain't that justa nice thought to tuck you in at night?
