Hey, I was one for a long time. Try picturing THAT for a while...

errrr... I have tried picturing you naked and my truck motor blew... I'll pass on picturing you fundie

Smilin:
raised in a fundie isolated community...
escaped when I was 17, entered the military...

Kass:
Ew. I guess I had it lucky, being raised by agnostic/atheist Unitarian Universalists...though I'm sure they weren't any more happy about my conversion than your family would be by your deconversion. They were fairly quiet about it, though...which is good, because I was a REAL prick with anyone who disagreed with me then. Now I just pretend to be a prick.

lol.. I'm used to being a family outcast... first my earthly Father, then that heavenly thing I tried to talk to who won't answer, now I'm just happy to be an insignificant speck in the universe..

Smilin:
Renouncing Christianity seems to be cyclic with me. As of late, after being banished from my Fathers home for exploring our heritage... I find lost/forgotten customs suit me better than the God of war, bigotry, threats, and eternal torment do.

Kass:
I'm hoping once was enough for me...it was hard enough to give the religion up once, I can't imagine having to for multiple times!

After supposed Christian love from CF, exploring my heritage, and embracing who I truly am.. I'm through with the God who sacrificed himself to himself for saving those he already knew were condemned to hell for a creation he foretold would fall.. simply requiring those to acknowledge his great sacrifice of 1/3 of his total self, ...blahhh...blahhh...blahhh....

Smilin:
As a result.. I find it much more pleasing to accept the spirituality associated with what you referred to as 'The Divine'. We term it differently... but share the same philosophy.

Kass:
Cool. Just make sure you don't tell Sherman Alexie about it. (Native American author; very much against us non-Natives practicing Native rites and beliefs) Even though I don't believe I consciously stole the idea from what little study I've had in Native thought and belief, I don't know what his (or other Native activists') reaction would be to that. Probably not good, though.

Cherokee heritage is passed through the Mother. Unfortunately, my lineage is from my Father. They have mixed reactions towards me as well. However, there beliefs seem to click very closely to what I've learned of yours thus far. You know.. everywhere I go.. I am an outcast..lol...PROUD SMILE HERE!!!!

Smilin:
as far as silk scarves... OHHHH YEAHHH... If I can handle long sharp fingernails... I'M SURE I can deal with soft smooth silk...LOL

Kass:
Er...yeah. Right.

errrr... do I sense you doubt my tolerance to pain? lol

BTW, isn't Scarlatti's message a scream? He's definitely one of the best humorists on GA most of the time, though certainly others have their moments.
Scarlatti's humor is great!!! too bad fundies aren't allowed to be satirical. I guess Mark Twain is on there 'banned reading list' as well.

With illegally posted material, no less.

If one of those publications he steals from decides to sue - well, that'll be the end of CF.

And when she started a thread in the bugs, etc. forum, it was deleted too. I'm assuming she still doesn't have an answer or that there has been any action to correct this situation. It's easier to just delete a thread than to have to deal with it's implications.
My question was deleted without answer as well...

The wheels are churning.. now what...

With an attitude like that don't be surprised if those even more fundementalist than you label you a "false" Christian. :\

I'm sure that there *are* fundementalists who are nice people - I don't really know you well enough to have a good idea, but you seem nice so far - but it seems that the overwhelming majority, from my experience, regardless of what they're like outside of religious discussion, are fanatical to the point of blind rage.

Kass:
Uh, hon? I'm a Pagan and have been since 1999. Though I am occasionally mistaken for a Christian on CF, I had thought everyone on HERE, at least, knew that. Yes, no doubt I'm really a very false Christian, though....

Oh, I don't trust any conservative Christians. Too many of them have acted nice but then, when the chips are down, attack you for not being like them religiously. I'd love to see some that don't, but so far, none have.

aww. I feel much better now. Well, not much. But some. Too good. I'd better go read some of those FSTDT quotes. Never fails to shatter my hope for humanity. :P

Bah.

Can someone bless me? I have...like...12 blessings. I'd like to play some games.

Don't I sound pitiful? Don't you feel sorry for me?
