Daniel 1:9 (KJV) - Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
The KJV translates it as "tender love" but other translations use: compassion (NRSV, RSV, NASB, ESV, ASV, MSG), sympathy (NIV), mercy/mercies (DRB, YLT), sympathetic (GNB), goodwill (NKJV). Strong's number says "tender love" is rakh'-am - compassion (in the plural); by extension the womb (as cherishing the foetus); by implication a maiden: - bowels, compassion, damsel, tender love, (great, tender) mercy, pity, womb. It doesn't seem to be a homosexual reference. |

Reading between the lines (and somewhat tongue-in-cheek), I'd suggest Ruth and Naomi. First you've got the "whither thou goest" thang in chapter 1 (Book of Ruth). Ruth is smitten! Then of course the character of Boaz is himself quite suspicious - unmarried yet wealthy. Why doesn't Boaz have a wife already? Hmmm...maybe he's gay too? After all, he gets drunk and Ruth lies down with him, but no hanky-panky ensues. But soon Boaz realizes that a marriage of convenience to Ruth could be mutually beneficial. He and Ruth do the nasty, she conceives and bears a son, after which exit Boaz stage right - he is now free to pursue his "young men" (2:15) without suspicion, given his sham marriage to Ruth. And lo and behold: it is Naomi who nurses the child. (Ruth apparently is the butch one, doing field work and such.) The local women exclaim, "a child had been born to Naomi" (4:17) - very suspicious indeed. Ruth and Naomi continue in their lesbian bliss, and raise the child together. (A more pc title for the book might be "Obed has two mommies".)

How about whatever went on when Noah’s son Ham saw him drunk and naked (Gen 9)? Noah’s response to merely being seen naked was a little... over the top, shall we say? Makes you wonder what Ham tried on with his Dad...

BTW, it is probably not a homosexual act, just weird. I mean, taking a peek at your drunk father and talking about it with your bros, now he really must have some "issues". See the Brick Testament's for a pictorial-LEGO dramatization to the said act. |

Re: Any gay characters in the OT?
JW:
What about the Christian Bible?: John 13: (KJV) 27 "And after the soap Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly." I heard that Gibson originally wanted the pitcher Sandy Koufax to play Satan. SATAN, n. One of the Creator's lamentable mistakes, repented in sashcloth and axes. Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favor that I should like to ask," said he. "Name it." "Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws." "What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul -- you ask for the right to make his laws?" "Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself." It was so ordered. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Errors...hristian_Bible http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/abdulreis/myhomepage/ |
