I was a nerd back when I was 10 or so 'til 15. Net porn seemed to be better back then... Most porn sites were free and run by nerdy perverts, pedos, and the enterprising scandivians. None of this e-comm crap and user-friendliness. Sure, stuff was a bit harder to find if you were and average user. But hey, back THEN you had to know a lot more about PCs to get porn of the net. It might just be me, but porn was 'kinder' back then. I never ran into sites advertising brazilian women (who make me think of the word, "jailbait" more than "consenting adult") stuffing live birds into their joyholes. What ever happened to the orthodox girl-on-girl?

Agreed, aza--these days, its harder to get porn than it was when I was, say, twelve--more paysites, as opposed to just weird people.

KaZaA is the porn mecca now.

I won't let my ten year old online unless I am there to monitor. I am not ready for him to look at porn. I have warned my kids that I can go through the hard drive to check the sites that they have been visiting and do if they are online without my permission. It is too easy to access porn and it isn't just the airbruhed playboy, it's hard core stuff as well as beasiality... I don't think it is healthy for even a young teen to view such thing. As he is older and better able to understand what he sees, then I'm not sure. I suppose that is when he and daddy tell me to back off.

edit: I would not punish my son for viewing those images, I understand curiousity. But I do want to know what he views so I can discuss this stuff and any questions about it with him.

I remember reading a news story (can't find it now) of a library where a patron, who I think was a teen, was looking at porn on the library's computers so frequently that other patrons were complaining. Rather than asking him to stop, they erected screens around him so that others wouldn't incidentally see the sites he visited. It's great that the library protects our first amendment rights, but I would be terribly embarrassed if everyone knew I was downloading porn at the library. I would be embarrassed as an adult, now, but if I were a teen, I would be terminally embarrassed. What if my friend's mom, or my mom, or a girl that I liked walked up behind me while I was mesmerized by some explicit scene?

The typical teenage male will find everything he *needs* in porn site "samples"--from photos at some sites to small videos at others.

This is an amoral statement (i.e., I'm not going to make any value judgements on the morality of this) but if one knows where to look, one can quite easily get in - free - to most paysites out there.

I read about one library that combatted porn by having librians walk up and give a strong tap on the shoulder to anyone viewing it.
