2001 Statistics Canada Census (on religion)

According to the 2001 Census, 16% of Canadians claimed that they have "no religion."

In addition, far more Canadians reported in the 2001 Census that they had no religion. This group accounted for 16% of the population in 2001, compared with 12% a decade earlier.

Prior to 1971, fewer than 1% of the Canadian population reported having no religion. In 2001, that percentage increased to 16% of the population, or just under 4.8 million people, compared with 3.3 million a decade earlier.

I'm one of them because I remember filling out the census form.

What is it in the U.S.? 5% or so?

No wonder Fred Phelps hates us so much.

Maybe that's why I like Canada so much. Well, not really, there is so much more than that to like.

On the down side, that leaves sweetiedarling and me with one less reason to refuse to marry.

You think that's a lot? Australia's last census (2001 I think) showed that 25% of Australians have no religion.
